Its hard but i would say
1. Slayer
2. Megadeth
3. Metallica
4. Anthrax
The first three are hard to separate which i enjoy more while Anthrax for me is very near the bottom. I've just never enjoyed their lyrics.

Re: The Big 4 (How do you rank them?)
Before opening this thread, I had my answer prepared:
1. The Beatles
2. Led Zeppelin
3. The Who
4. The Rolling Stones
After opening this thread, I've got no opinion (that people reading this thread would care to hear).

Slayer
Anthrax
Megadeth
Metallica
Slayer has the most content I really like, followed by Anthrax.
I really really like So Far, So Good, So What, and like some other Megadeth albums to an extent.
I got into Metallica just before And Justice For All, so I got burned out on them, and I haven't really liked much since then.
I've never seen any of them live, so this is based solely on recorded music [plus, I'll admit, a little holdover hostility toward Metallica's hostility to their fans - not that I'm condoning musical piracy, but there are better ways of handling it]
Regarding TScotts' big four:
Beatles.......the Who....
Zep....Stones.
Anthrax
Megadeth

If you were talking about based on their output in the past few years, it would be Megadeth and then everyone else below them. They're the only ones that have remained relevant musically lately, imo. Anthrax would get my vote, but I saw them open for Iron Maiden two years ago and they had this awful singer doing stupid cookie monster vocals. Really weak.
Metallica, of course, has gone completely off the deep end.
Based on entire body of work, though:
Metallica
Megadeth
Anthrax
Slayer

1. Metallica - I thought Death Magnetic was a nice return to form
2. Megadeth - Uneven, but when they are good, they are very good. Youthanasia - Risk do not exist for me.
3. Anthrax - Their best album is The Greater of Two Evils, the album with Bush doing the Belladonna-era stuff.
4. Slayer - No interest.

That would be ex-singer Dan Nelson. I saw that show (did you go to Irvine Meadows, too?) and he was atrocious. Thank the Metal Gods they've got Belladonna back! If they ever get their shit together and record another new record (since they indefinitely shelved the one they did with Nelson), I'm hoping it's a return to form a la Among the Living.
I had no clue Anthrax brought Belladonna back. If they release a good album with him, that might put them back on top for me.

#1: SLAYER (because they've been the most consistent)
#2: Metallica (would've been #1, but they had a 8 year run of mediocre to awful albums: 1991-1997)
#3: Megadeth (their first 2 albums rival anything Metallica and SLAYER have done, but everything after that has been hit or miss)
#4: Anthrax (same as Megadeth, but they're just not as good)

Re: The Big 4 (How do you rank them?)
1. Anthrax (love the Joey years, 1st Bush album is great. Haven't made an album I liked since 1993).
2. Metallica (Haven't made an album I like since the Black Album in 91).
3. Megadeth (It's close to a toss up between Metallica and Megadeth for me. Megadeth has been the most consistent band, but Metallica's best work is slightly better than Megadeth's best work).

"Worship Music is the proposed name for the upcoming tenth studio album by American thrash metal band Anthrax. It is their first album of original material since We've Come for You All and was to be the first to feature vocalist Dan Nelson. It was originally set to be released in May 2009...After recent developments, Dan Nelson is no longer a member of the band....It initially seemed that John Bush would end up recording new vocals for the album; however, this ultimately did not happen...Ultimately, Bush decided that he did not want to recommit to Anthrax full time again and left the group. As a result, the band has reunited with Joey Belladonna once again...Some of the completed songs will be left as is, other than adding Belladonna's vocals, while others will be rewritten by the band with Belladonna...On October 8th, at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Anthrax played their new song "Fight 'em 'til You Can't". Scott Ian said in a recent interview that fans can expect the new record in early 2011."
"Charlie Benante said - “The new tunes are very strong. We have some old school thrash and some stuff that is like WCFYA meets SOWN. This record is not forced – it is a very organic and honest representation of where we are as a band and as writers. I hear many things nowadays that sound forced, I ain’t digging that. There is a 6-minute tune called ‘Down Goes The Sun’, I believe it is one of my favorite songs. The music itself is epic, it sends chills up my spine.”
"Scott Ian has said in a interview that the album's name may be changed."

Re: The Big 4 (How do you rank them?)
Saw Anthrax open for Ozzy back in 88 on there State of Euphoria tour, to this day seeing Scott Ian walking out to the stage alone to open the show jammin the intro to "Finale" is my most memorable concert experience, it really got me into it and the band cuz i was there to totally see Ozzy, and yes i"ve been to alot of concerts, IMO State of Euphoria is Anthrax's best album with Sound of White Noise a close second.
