What are you listening to? [November 2010]
Not sure why reaction is mixed to this one in these parts. I'm loving the title track, I Didn't See It Coming, Come on Sister, I Want the World to Stop, Sunday's Pretty Icons amongst others. Solid effort.

Steve Mason - Boys Outside
I was never big on the Beta Band but picked this one up earlier this year on recommendation of a friend and the Richard X connection. It has slowly become one of my favorites of 2010 - absolutely gorgeous. I really hope I can make it to one of his acoustic shows in December.

Picked that up myself this week. Thought it was good, if not outstanding. But with a $7.99 price tag I'm not really complaining.
Couple of things that always do get me about Bleu, though... First, is why he feels the need to use profanity when he doesn't really have to? Not that I have anything against swearing, but with his music, it just really feels out of place and unnecessary. Second would be, that while it's cool that he usually always has a hidden bonus track on his releases, it would be nice if it just appeared as a separate track. I hate that it follows after 5 to 20 minutes of added extra silence at the end of the last cut. I've always considered that way of doing it most annoying.

Agreed. I LOVED "A Watched Pot". It was one of my favorite albums of that year. This album felt a little more "outtake"-ish to me; the first two cuts were awesome, and then it kinda went "meh". I mean, I still play it and I'm trying to warm up to it, but it didn't have the same effect as Watched Pot had over me. Damn I love that album.
What I am impressed with is his whole Kickstarter thing he managed to do with making Four. I love that people reached out to him and donated enough money for him to actually make the album. That is awesome stuff, and shows how awesome social media has come to be for artists.
Cheers,
Sid

I don't usually post in these threads, but I've been listening to Zulu Rock by Lizzy Mercier Descloux multiple times every day lately. Absolutely highly recommended.
