Foo Fighters 'Officially Done' Recording New Album


The Foo Fighters have finished work on their seventh studio album, according to posts from the group's Twitter account (@foofighters). In one photo from yesterday, the group is seen posing in a studio about to pour a bottle of champagne. "Ladies and gentlemen, we are officially done," the post reads.

The as-yet-untitled 11-song album will be out in the spring via RCA. The Dave Grohl-led band played the new songs "Back + Forth," "White Limo," "Dear Rosemary" and "These Days" from it during a secret show in Los Angeles last month. A brief snippet from the studio version of "White Limo" was also posted yesterday on the band's Twitter feed.

As previously reported, Grohl's former Nirvana bandmate appears on the new album track "I Should Have Known," while Husker Du/Sugar frontman Bob Mould guests on "Dear Rosemary." The project was recorded at Grohl's home studio in Los Angeles, produced by Butch Vig and mixed by Alan Moulder.

Grohl has previously described the album as the Foos' "most rocking record yet," and a source who has heard it previously told the Hollywood Reporter that "there's not an acoustic guitar on the whole record."

The Foo Fighters will return to the stage May 27 at the Sasquatch Music Festival in George, Wash. Afterward, the group will play headlining and festival dates in Europe through early July.

with all the pompous, idiotic, over-the-top, terrible 'musicians' that are 'big' today, Dave (and the rest) continue to be a breath of fresh air. It's so rare to find a band that good who are not egomaniacs and full of themselves to the point where they cannot make fun of themselves.

The idea for this album is terrific and perfect for this day and age where everything has become so 'clean' and produced, some might say to the detriment of the music itself.

Clearly, this will be an actual produced album, but hopefully the rawness of the recording process will still shine through, like a rusted sun.

Please don't blast me for this, but I kind of like when the Foo Fighters use an acoustic guitar a little bit.

I'm still trying to find a copy of "Times Like These" acoustic version somewhere. It's one of my favorites from FF.

That being said, I'm really looking forward to his album.

I like acoustic Foo as well, but between In Your Honor disc 2, Skin & Bones and Echoes - we've gotten A LOT of acoustic Foo Fighters in the last few years - so to have something that is 100% rocking electric gets a big thumbs up from me. The record after this one can be a more balanced effort but I'm ready to ROCK!

Me too, but it's been way overdone the past few years. They're heading into dangerous Goo Goo Dolls territory now where every single album has all ballads/acoustic and only one rocker (when it used to be the other way around!).

Rockin' Foo Fighters is great, absolutely great. But you know what else is great? That song, Home, off the last record. I'll trade Monkeywrench and Break-Out for Home, if that's what it takes for it to exist.

Foo Fighters' New Album Due April 12

The Foo Fighters have confirmed a release date for their still-untitled seventh album on their official website. The album is due out April 12 in the U.S. on Roswell/RCA.

The band also shared a 38-second instrumental snippet from a new song on its website, after posting a 30-second teaser of new track "Bridge Burning" last month. Like the "Burning" preview, the new piece of music features a slow build, intense electric guitar lick and breakneck drumming.
