RUSH - Yay or nay?

Conversation has sprung up in the Rock Band thread in Video Game Talk about peoples' opinions of the band Rush. Are they a "love them or hate them" band?

Love 'em.

Love them, but not as much as I used to. They used to be my favorite band, but I rarely listen to them anymore and other bands have jumped them. That said, I though Snakes & Arrows was their best album since Power Windows, so hopefully the next will be good as well. I was discouraged by the 2 songs that were released this summer. I thought both were pretty weak.

I got no use for them. In the Bizarro World, that is.

Lemmy hates Rush. Lemmy also banged Alex Lifeson's wife while playing all of La Villa Strangiato...left handed...

Not really a fan of 70's prog-rock genre in general, but a number of my close friends are huge Rush fans, and I have seen them live a couple times. I love some of their singles, and although they're not exactly my cup of tea, I do indeed like them and respect them. They defy categorization, are great musicians, down-to-earth guys, and I find their live shows to be a lot of fun.

Used to hate Rush, but have gained a better appreciation for them over the last couple of years. Don't quite love yet, though. Voted give-or-take.

Listening to Rush in junior high was why I became such a big fan of punk rock in high school.

Other than that the three guys in the band seem to be pretty modest, unassuming people, Rush is pretty much everything about rock music I can't stand, all wrapped up in a nice neat package.

Oh, and when I learned how to play drums they became completely unlistenable.

I pretty much agree with everything here. I'm not a fan but I can see how a lot of people are. They are all outstanding musicians and seem to be good people. My dad is a HUGE fan.

I can see that they are talented, they have some good songs, but I could never get into them.

Oh no, the indifferents are catching up! Don't be like that, people. Rush is awesome! Or terrible! Just listen to that drumming. Or that voice!

I've been a Rush fan for 21 years, although I can't stand listening to "Tom Sawyer" anymore due to its over-exposure. Every time I hear that song on the Classic Rock station I change the tuner.

One of my fav bands of all time; seen them live double digit times, still have them in heavy rotation in the majority of my playlists.

And anyone who voted:

There should be a poll option for "I loved Rush when they were relevant, in say, 1981."

I like their early stuff. Didn't care for their newer music like "Tom Sawyer" and beyond.
