With Dr. Who at the console, it has to be good!

That's what I was thinking!

Just got this today. For some reason my preorder shipped really early.

Sounds good, but I haven't A/Bed this and the original CD release or anything. The only glaring difference I've noticed was that the sample from the middle of Sanctified (Dear mom and dad, this is the hardest letter I've ever had to write...) is completely missing. It's kind of weird hearing the song without it.

Re: Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Maching Remaster 11/22/2010

I listened to this a bit today. Like someone else said, it sounds good, but I haven't listened to the original in a long time, so I'm not sure just how different it is. The low end has definitely been bumped up, as the beginning of Sanctified sounds a lot better.

What's up with this thing coming out on a Monday? That seems a bit odd.

Major Holiday week. Since many retailers would otherwise lose a day of sales due to being closed on Thanksgiving, this way they still get to take advantage of the same amount of weekdays worth sales on new releases. All this week's Music and Movie new releases came out a day early. It's becoming a trend in the industry during such week's now.

I saw this @ BB for $7.99, but I couldn't justify re-buying an album I already own, much as I love it. I'll stick with the original issue.

$7.99 is worth the investment. I recommend that you change your mind and pick it up, even if you own the original. Besides the remaster, which sounds great, the package is brilliant and the whole experience feels like NIN just released this album today, not 1989.

I love the liner notes:

" Thank you. Chris Vrenna, Bart Koster, etc. etc.

Fuck you. Steve Gottlieb and TVT"

All the reviews I've read said the remaster sounds the same as the original.

Wow... Pitchfork gave this a great review. I couldn't agree more with their comments about "Something I Can Never Have." That one's always been a favourite of mine.

Currently listening to Down In It (via Spotify, since the release date in Canada isn't until the 30th), but I'll probably be buying the vinyl copy... if I don't get it for Christmas.

Also... just for some nostalgic fun...

I was pretty prepared for it to sound loud and brickwalled after looking at the waveform, but I have to recant- the new version sounds pretty damn good.

Now that I've had a chance to listen to it and compare it to the original, I'd say those reviewers are deaf. It's not as flat sounding, has more bottom end and definition. While it is louder than the original, it's by no means brickwalled. For $7.99, I'm pleased.
