A song you LOVE by a band/artist you CAN'T STAND...
 

Title says it all. A friend brought this up when she said she LOATHED Kiss, but LOVED "I Was Made For Loving You". As in, it was one of her favorite songs.... :shrug: Dopey, I know, but she's hot.

I also had a roommate in college who was ONLY into "alternative" music, hated my rock/metal proclivities to no end, but was absolutely obsessed with Metallica's "Orion".

Me, I have absolutely NO USE for The Grateful Dead. It's a deep, explosive loathing. But "Uncle John's Band" is probably in my Top 20 songs of all time. I vehemently curse whatever God gave us Bon Jovi, but "Living In Sin" is a great little pop tune. Etc.

Your thoughts?

I'm thinking about this and I'd probably go with the grateful dead too but their whole first album is alright- cream puff war is straight up garage rock and I love that song. I guess I can't count them because I like a number of their early material before they changed direction quite a bit to become a boring noodling jam band.

When were The Dead not a Jamband? Early on they didn't chage their setlist much but every song was jammed out.

yes but there wasn't stuff like "drums and space" and all that. I do like some jamming but that type of stuff fits my description of boring and noodling. I don't even like everything they did early on but any of it I can stomach much more than the later stuff.

Hate KISS with a passion, but love 'God Gave Rock n' Roll To You' from Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey. I actually hated myself for a few days when I found out it was KISS playing it. I guess my 12 year old self loved the idea of it being one of Bill and Ted's songs that changed the world.

I am RIGHT THERE with you. I loathed the late 90s because of the whole boy band/pop starlet/Nu-Metal trends. Boy bands especially. UGH.

But this is a damn good pop song. :(

In terms of his solo career, I really can't stand Eric Clapton, but I adore the song "I Can't Stand It."

I always hated GNR mostly because they've been touted as an important band when I only saw them as an LA hair band that uses a little less moose than the rest of them. Plus I've always been turned off by the backstage and onstage stories. But "Patience" still has that warm chord progression that consists of B, F# and C#, and beautifully played as well. I can't help but love it.

I don't know if I would say I "can't stand" Madonna, but this is probably the only song of hers I'd be inclined to buy:

Haha, actually "November Rain" for me is another reason I hate them! "Patience" isn't overblown like that song or "Don't Cry". It's just a nice, unpretentious acoustic song.
