I Want the World to Stop:

Really loved "The Life Pursuit" and hope they continue in that direction.

Disgustingly, I didn't even realize The Life Pursuit had even come out. So I'm two albums behind. Either way, I can't wait for this.

That short clip is such a tease. Sounds really promising.

About time! I'm one of the fans who loves their later work WAY more than the earlier stuff. Good news!

Been a fan for 13 years now...and I definitely prefer the older stripped-down sound, but the newer stuff is still pretty fun. New single sounds good so far.

As one can guess by my avatar, I'm looking forward to this release more than any other disc all year. I'll be at the Chicago show in October, which will be my third B&S show.

I'm a longtime B&S fan. I prefer their earlier works but their new stuff is equally outstanding.

Re: Belle & Sebastian: Write About Love - Oct. 12th

After all my years on this planet, I just started listening to these folks earlier this summer when I checked out some of their stuff from the library. Just an incredible sound. Have they ever had anything make any kind of impact on commercial radio? I know I've never heard anything, I only ever heard about them from the internet.

Not really. Dear Catastrophe Waitress was their biggest shot at radio airtime, and I don't think it made a major ripple. They've always been the darlings of the indie scene, but mainstream radio still has no clue where to put them.

One of the best albums of the decade.

B&S are one of the few bands I actually look forward to their new releases.

Re: Belle & Sebastian: Write About Love - Oct. 12th

Just got back from seeing B&S live at the Hollywood Palladium. Fantastic show! I had seen them previously at the Greek, but it's so much better in a smaller venue. They only played one track from the new album, but they were on a roll. Jenny Lewis came out and sang a song with them (Jenny and Johnny were the openers), and there was a lot of interplay with the audience. Just a great, great time all around.

I listened to the new album via NPR. It is horrifying. They need to break up.

I saw them play last Saturday at the Matador @ 21 festival, and they put on a really great show - lots of audience interaction, great sound and setlist. I've never really been that big a fan, but I really enjoyed their set.

Re: Belle & Sebastian: Write About Love - Oct. 12th

I'm streaming the new album off of NPR's site right now, and so far I think it's good. I'm hoping it grows on me with time, as most albums do.

I listened to a handful of tracks at NPR and they sounded just fine to me.

It's the most banal crap they've produced since 2000-2003.

You're just being that guy. It's a B&S album through and through, no better or worse than most of their output.

Even Bitchfork liked it, and they usually hate everything.

I really don't care what Pitchfork thinks of it. I've been a Belle & Sebastian fan for a long time, and I don't particularly care for Write About Love because I find it musically and lyrically uninteresting.

They went through a similar period between 2000-03, as I mentioned, but they managed to find their way out of it with DCW and TLP.

If they found their way out of it then, why would you want them to break up now?

They've been together for 15 years, and they're starting to slip again. Why not now?
