Anbody here a fan of The Protomen?

I discovered this band via Wired. Wasn't really sure what to expect.

The best way I can describe it is there is a little bit of mariachi, a little bit of Meat Loaf (a producer of his worked on the new album) and a little rockabilly. Through in the plot from Mega Man and you got a damn fine record.

Their latest "Act II: The Father of Death" is the one I currently have. I have not heard the first album, but I am certainly curious about it.

I discovered these guys through the 4chan /mu/ board. Truly freaking weird. I love the flipped out voice over narration about the creation of mega man. Too cool.

It is a little..... over the top, but that's its intention.

I saw them at Bonnaroo a couple of years ago. I'd never heard of them before, but my brother-in-law texted me the day they were playing and suggested I check them out, so I did. Their live show is spectacular. I don't know if they got extra people because they were playing such a big festival (apparently they won some contest as the best local band in Nashville where the prize was playing Bonnaroo), but they had something like 15+ members crammed on that little stage, playing everything from guitars and synths to a trumpet and a giant marching band bass drum. They were one of the highlights of the festival for me.

I bought their albums and I'm in general not as crazy about those. The act feels a little forced in the studio, and in my opinion it doesn't really work as well. But if you get a chance to see them live, by all means check them out.
