The Knife: Tomorrow, In a Year: are you freakin' kidding me?

Someone please tell me this album gets better after the first few tracks. Kicking the album off with an endless, boring, hardly audible bleep collage is not promising. Then there's (at least) three consecutive tracks that consist of operatic vocals (almost always a really bad idea) over formless electronics. This is one of the most painfully pretentious first sides by a promising band I've ever heard. It reminds me when I first heard Goldie's "Saturnz Return", it's mind-bendingly awful.

Does it get better any time soon? If not, I'm giving up now. What a huge letdown after "Silent Shout" and the excellent Fever Ray album.

Edit: just read that this is their first "opera". OK, I give up.

Yeah, I listened to it once and that was enough for me, and I loved Silent Shout and the Fever Ray albums.

Haha you should have read some reviews prior to listening... I haven't even bothered, because I don't think it's meant to be enjoyed by Knife fans.

I love "Neverland" but Silent Shout is super overrated.

I've only heard one seven minute song a while back and wasn't too impressed, but I also understood that the Knife wasn't really making a proper LP with Tomorrow, In a Year. Isn't this the 'soundtrack' to an opera that they helped create about Charles Darwin? Take out the visuals and whatever else those crazy bastards thought of and the music just comes off as bizarre.

Because of that I never really thought of it as an album that was really meant to be listened to.

Behold, the wonder of Zune Pass. Download and delete legally and with impunity.

I'm not sure I get the concept of releasing 15-20 tracks (one might call that an album) under the artist name "The Knife" and not expect that fans of The Knife might want to listen to it. They should have released it under their own names or whatever.
