Cheap Trick performing Sgt Pepper Live!
Saw this last night in basically the 2nd row...WOW really good. I had a friend that sent me the CD of the show once I had my tickets, but I was really blown away. Didn't get to roll much of my camera or recorder, but took a few pics.

(guys sitting right next to me paid $100!) |
Re: Cheap Trick performing Sgt Pepper Live!
Actually bought it and a Tee! I ended up with a bunch guitar picks too, gonna give one to the girl that recommended the show to me...

Re: Cheap Trick performing Sgt Pepper Live!
I love Cheap Trick and The Beatles. I'd love to see this show. The DVD is great.

Re: Cheap Trick performing Sgt Pepper Live!
Cheap Trick was playing an (acoustic?) set today at an exclusive Comic-Con party somewhere downtown. Met Robin Zander at the Con, but didn't get a chance to get into the show.

Re: Cheap Trick performing Sgt Pepper Live!
This band is the best thing since sliced bread. Not sure what that means, but it sounds complimentary, don't it?

Re: Cheap Trick performing Sgt Pepper Live!
This doesn't sound good at all. Then again, I've never really liked Cheap Trick.

Re: Cheap Trick performing Sgt Pepper Live!
It's at the Paris, right? I might have to check it out this summer.
edit: Wow, now I see I can get those same $25 seats for any show this month. I'll be taking my daughter some night. She'd LOVE it. Thanks for the heads-up. |
Re: Cheap Trick performing Sgt Pepper Live!
Great pics! And yes, do pick up the DVD.

Re: Cheap Trick performing Sgt Pepper Live!
Cheap Trick always gets lumped into the power-pop bucket with bands like the Raspberries, but they have always had a harder-edged, subversive side. Their debut album is a great combination of styles and subject matter, and they lyrics to Surrender are really out there for a hit single - to paraphrase:
My mom said that girls like you are likely to give me a disease, such as that of soldier who's genitals fell off. My dad said that my mom knows stuff like this this because she was in the WACs, but I thought that they were usually old maids. I came home last night and my parents were making out and smoking dope while listening to my KISS albums. Out here in internet land there is re-recording of the In Color album that the band did with Steve Albini that I really prefer over the official release. |

I checked my footage, and while I don't have any complete songs, I did get over 5 min (with some songs at the end getting most of that 5 mins)

Re: Cheap Trick performing Sgt Pepper Live!
That's really cool, especially since Rick Nielsen and Bun E. Carlos played on the sessions for John Lennon's last album "Double Fantasy". Their tracks didn't make the final release, but the version of them on 'I'm Losing You' is on the Lennon outtakes box set that came out a few years ago.

The best thing about living in Rockford is getting to bump into Rick Nielsen from time to time. Anyone who hasn't heard their most recent album, "The Latest," should check it out. It's really solid.

Wow. That looks as bad as the movie.

Re: Cheap Trick performing Sgt Pepper Live!
I saw this show about a month ago (we know Mann at Big3).
The best part was that Geoff Emerick was there doing the sound (or part of it). If you do not know him look it up. He has a great history in music recording. I thought the show was great and had a blast. |
Re: Cheap Trick performing Sgt Pepper Live!
I ran into Rick Nielsen in a hotel bar about 20 years ago. He was real nice and talkative and drew me a picture of himself on a piece of hotel stationary. I still have it somewhere.

Re: Cheap Trick performing Sgt Pepper Live!
Though it's not mentioned anywhere on the Travelzoo site, it appears that the $25 (really $35 since they add on a $10 fee) deal is live again at Ticketmaster.com (using code TRZOO). I got some rear orchestra tickets for Friday.

Re: Cheap Trick performing Sgt Pepper Live!
Is that the show they are doing this summer?
They will be near me next Friday (at the Illinois State Fair with Blondie as the opening act). http://www.agr.state.il.us/isf/gstand/cheaptrick.html I'd kind of like to see them performing Beatles songs. |
