Scott Stapp's inclusion gives it the credibility it would be lacking were he not involved.

Conclusion: Mostly good songs, mostly shitty singers.

I'm still trying to decide if I'm intrigued by the notion of hearing new versions of songs I know by heart or I'm disappointed by the total lack of creativity of that song line-up. It feels like a lazy and obvious ploy to be as successful as possible with his core audience of baby boomers, without even a hint or originality or inspiration. It has a LeBron James Miami Heat feel to it.

I love Santana's tone. Period. and I love almost all those songs. and I can't wait to hear them with his sound stamped on them. I could give or take any of the guest artists though. I haven't really had a problem with any of the guests he's used since Supernatural.

I loved Supernatural, and I loved most of the songs on this album. I'll definately be picking it up though I'm sure that this is one that will be $8 or $9 the week of it's release, thus no preorder for me.

Shouldn't that first track be listed (Led Zeppelin/Willie Dixon)?

I wouldn't lump Yo-Yo Ma with a group of shitheads.

Tell me you didn't think he is a rapper.

Poor Yo-Yo Ma, all he wants to do is be a badass with his cello.

Currently $10.99 at Amazon with a free .mp3 download included (any 99 cent song you want). I'm guessing that Best Buy will have this at $9.99, but the release date is still four weeks away.

Re: Santana - GUITAR HEAVEN - 9/21/10

I'll have to sample for free. That should probably do it for me.

Update: Great, no free 30 second samples. I'm boycotting

Update2: Listened to it last night off of Rhapsody, and with a couple of exceptions (WMGGW), it was totally dismissable and unnecessary. The rap version of Back in Black was just terrible.

What a horribly plain album cover. It looks like the cheapies you buy at a truck stop that collect the hits.

Nas, really? Yeah really, only one of the best rappers of all time. People just get their panties in a bunch when they see something different. If I recall on Supernatural, Lauryn Hill and Cee-Lo did a pretty good job on that record. Relax and at wait and HEAR the song before making assumptions.

And I'm sick of people thinking that rap should be done on every remake ("We Are The World", anyone? Anyone?).

Carlos needs to extricate his head from his ass on this one. And I say that, with full confidence, without hearing a single note. Mark my words; I'm marking yours.

Rapping AC/DC? Absurdity at it's most ludicrous.
So what if it is rapped. Does that mean it will be bad because it is rapped? I'll answer it for you. NO. I don't care if it falls on deaf ears with you. It is a FACT that he is one of the best of all time whether you like rap or not. People like you want music to sound all boring and the same and there to be one genre of music.

Amazon does't show these two songs, and Santana's website shows "I Ain't Superstitious" but is missing "Fortunate Son".

I'm assuming that Santana's list is correct and Fortunate Son was left off for whatever reason.

One genre, indeed. Hmmph!
Well it's nice that you are open minded about things at least.

I got the nickname bootsy from my wife but I also like it because of the P Funk connection.

Re: Santana - GUITAR HEAVEN - 9/21/10

iTunes has the album listed and you can listen to a 30 second clip of While My Guitar Gently Weeps, and buy it for 99 cents if you want. The clip sounds nice.

They are also listing one extra song in addition to the 13 tracks listed in the original post, "Under the Bridge" feat. Andy Vargas. There is some confusion over the number of tracks on this album: Amazon is showing 12, Santana's website has 13 and iTunes has 14.

iTunes price is $11.99 but it includes two bonus videos: a) The Making of Guitar Heaven; and b) Interview with Carlos Santana and Clive. The length of these bonus videos was not shown.

Furthermore, while those are all, more or less, perfectly fine classic rock songs, I can go the rest of my life never hearing any of them ever again, good cover or not.

I love Nas. Illmatic is maybe my favourite CD of all-time. However... Nas doing ACDC is like Celine Dion doing Nas. It doesn't make sense to me.
