He should have stay married. Prince has gone a lot off the deep end.

Re: "The Internet is over," declares Prince.
Prince is batshit crazy. He makes some great music, but batshit crazy. But is anyone surprised that he's so eccentric? I just find it funny that a pioneer of digital distribution is now abandoning the channel, the second it is legit. Ah well. Like he needs more money.

Re: "The Internet is over," declares Prince.
"They just fill your head with numbers and that cant be good for you." Prince does not intend "20Ten" to get a download release |
Re: "The Internet is over," declares Prince.
Well in Prince World this might be true but reports of the Internet's demise may be premature. Need to go watch Evening with Kevin Smith again.........

Re: "The Internet is over," declares Prince.
Isn't this the same Prince who gave his album away to people on his website two weeks before it hit retail?
I guess he didn't make enough money on that deal. He is fucking nuts, but he does make incredible music. |
Re: "The Internet is over," declares Prince.
Just because he sucks at the Internet doesn't mean it's over. :)
On one hand, I get his frustration... he was one of the earlier adopters of a paid digital distribution model with his NPG Music Club and one of the first 'name' acts to release a large amount content exclusively via the web. The problem was his model was flawed and he didn't listen to what the fans wanted (a big problem when you go with a subscription-based plan). He was (is) sitting on a wealth of unreleased material dating back to his '80s heyday, stuff fans have only heard through crappy bootlegs, and yet he released very little of this material through the club, instead focusing on so-so newer material and pointless remixes. "All these computers and digital gadgets are no good," he said. "They just fill your head with numbers and that cant be good for you." The Daily Mirror will give the album away July 10 as a free CD with the paper |
Re: "The Internet is over," declares Prince.
Can't wait to hear what crazy conspiracy theories he has on his mind the next time he stops in to visit with Tavis Smiley. Like several others have stated, the man can still create some amazing music, but he clearly has issues.

Re: "The Internet is over," declares Prince.
I don't think downloading music is a fad. I can't say I would miss downloading music if they all shut down. I would prefer to buy my music if it was a cheaper option.

I don't want to judge the guy's beliefs, but to go from Horny Pony to Jehovah's Witness? He's kind of bonkers |
Re: "The Internet is over," declares Prince.
I do remember reading an account of some people who had Prince come to their house to preach the good word to them. I don't know what I would do if Prince showed up at my house with Jehovah's Witness literature.

* An actual question I once presented to a Japanese JW that I worked with, while he munched on some fatty tuna rolls. He didn't have an answer. |

Re: "The Internet is over," declares Prince.
Not that the internet is a tangible thing that can be offended and react thusly, but Prince should be pretty thankful to the internet that he still has any kind of career at all. Merchandise and music made available to his fans and the general public has naturally progressed from mail order to online, and he's made a shitload of money from it, so he definitely has a lot of nerve to turn up his nose and scoff at the very thing that puts a very big roof over his head, and continually maintains his ability to keep producing his music.

He's just mad because there's no "Prince Symbol" key on computer keyboards.
