KISS Manager Bill Aucoin has passed away

Just saw on Kiss Online that their long time manager Bill Aucoin has died from prostate cancer.

a true visionary... responsible for so many aspects of their career (the fire breathing, blood spitting, some of the band choreography, etc)

he will be missed

Bill was a real hands on manager, an idea man, and classic 70's-era KISS would never have happened without his guidance. RIP.

Bill made KISS. He financed the group's earliest tours on his American Express when the label money ran out. RIP.

I actually saw Bill last October when Kiss played in South FL. We were seated right across from the soundboard and there he was. Looked plenty healthy then, but "looking healthy" is always deceiving.

Aucoin was a management genius. Not only did he guide KISS to great success, but he also made Billy Idol's career what it was (and, in fact, Idol only started faltering commercially after he fired Aucoin in '84).

That's really sad - he seemed like a really nice guy, too.

KISS put up a very nice tribute to Aucoin on their website. You should check it out while it's still up - www.kissonline.com

Really nice job on the KISS website. Classy tribute.

It seems you don't often hear about someone doing what he did to make sure KISS had a shot/made it. He seemed like a super special guy. Many condolences to his family and friends.

Without him, I might not be enjoying the music of KISS, and that would be a shame. Sounds like he was one helluva manager.
