well not for you, but it did for others here and there.
I just don't think that this is their masterpiece, there's not new territory with this album, just heavy influences of the past.

alrighty, and it's obvious you aren't included in the "we" and I made a mistake by using such an encompassing word.
The only reason I brought up the album was from the BBC quote.
"You could call it their OK Computer. But it’s arguably better than that."

Anyone check out the enhanced download yet? If you ordered from the band's site they sent a link today with a download...
"Your digital purchase of The Suburbs includes a second digital version of the record which includes synchronized artwork. You can load it into your iTunes, iPod, or other digital playback device. At all times, you can click on the title of the song overlaying the artwork in your visual display to link to web pages added by Arcade Fire that are related in one way or another to the song. Synchronized artwork by AATOAA."

I am not sure I hear the "Ok Computer"* comparisons, but this album is fantastic. Seriously, this band just keeps uping the ante and I like it.
*I am not sure where I read that either...I want to say Pitchfork, because that comment is just pretentious enough for them to say that to their pretentious audience.

Gah...
I've tried listening to the entire album twice now in a single sitting (once on the way into work, and once now that I'm here) and I keep getting interrupted with about five tracks left.
So, I've heard all but those five songs, and I really, really like the album, much more than I thought I would.

Great album. I think those of you who haven't heard the last several tracks will like them.
This may sound odd, but is anyone else getting a Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" vibe from "Sprawl II?" There's a little section that starts at about 2:57 that especially reminded me of that song.

I finally made it towards the end - Sprawl II is fucking fantastic. Regine's voice is absolutely perfect in that one.
@Drexl - Blondie/Cyndi - whoever they are channeling here it fucking works.

I went back and listed to that part, and yes, I think that was intentional. That really does mimic Lauper's tune.
It's just a great song overall. Love to hear more female vocals blended into the album as a whole. (or I guess more lead vocals from Regine)

The more I listen to this album, the more fantastic it is in my ears. The tracklisting is perfect, and the cuts that stand out hold everything together.
Best tracks: The Suburbs, Rococo, Half Light II, We Used To Wait, Sprawl II. Some of the best music I've heard this year, right there.

Goodness, the MSG show on youtube was great. I saw Arcade Fire at a small club after Funeral was released and they are completely the same, yet completely different. More polished but still emotional. More confident, but not cocky. I'm surprised I watched the whole thing because concert videos aren't really my thing. Hell, even the song Haiti brought a tear to my eye.
If they are not already, they should be the biggest band in the world. They've earned it.
