Eminem - Recovery (6/22/10)
Figure'd I'd start a new thread for Eminem's new album since Relapse 2 has been scrapped.
The first single off of the album is the Boi-1da produced track "Not Afraid". It was released earlier today. I think it's phenomenal, it shows a completely new side of Em. It sounds so different to hear him on a beat not produced by himself, Denaun Porter, or Dr. Dre.. I love it. The beat is tight and the lyrics are really meaningful. I hope the rest of the album delivers like this has.
I still really enjoyed Relapse. I think this is a positive step in the new direction for him musically. I'm really anticipating the new CD now.

Is it confirmed that Relapse 2 was scrapped? When I read about it a while back it wasn't clear if he scrapped everything from Relapse 2 or simply renamed the album (with all or most of the same material) Recovery.

I guess I don't know for sure but am taking a guess. It could be possible that some of the Relapse 2 stuff was what we got with the Relapse: Refill release and maybe if there was leftover material they put it on this new album. Don't know but it seems possible to me.

Eminem raps about Roethlisberger
Associated Press
PITTSBURGH -- Eminem mentions Ben Roethlisberger in his latest song: "Despicable."
The million-selling rapper refers to the Steelers' troubled quarterback in explicit lyrics and with the lines, "I'd rather turn this club into a bar room brawl. Get as rowdy as Roethlisberger in a bathroom stall."
A 20-year-old college student accused Roethlisberger of sexual assault following a March 3 incident in a Milledgeville, Ga., nightclub. Roethlisberger doesn't face charges, but he was suspended for six games by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
While Eminem is releasing a new album called "Recovery," the song referencing Roethlisberger will not be included. The song was posted at a website co-founded by Eminem's manager.

Despicable was a freestyle so I didn't expect that to be on the album.
The Relapse: Refill CD was leftover material from the Relapse recording sessions. Recovery contains none of that, as well as no material from the now-scrapped Relapse 2. Em even says he was disappointed in the final outcome of Relapse in his new single.

damn both songs sound great. Can't wait for "Recovery". I'm actually surprised that he didn't do a more poppy song as the first single that he usually does

I really like the album artwork. Simple and effective. The single is pretty good too; I like when Eminem is more serious and introspective...he's far more effective that way.
I don't think he scrapped the songs he recorded for Relapse 2, and I haven't heard anything to suggest that he recorded the entirety of Relapse 2 and then threw out all the songs. I think he realized as he was recording material for Relapse 2 that it was really different from Relapse and that the different tone and material warranted a change in album title. He may have thrown out a couple songs (all artists do), but I don't think the entire tracklist was scrapped, but instead the title was just changed to more accurately reflect the music.

Won't Back Down featuring P!nk leaked today. Very different sounding tune, but after a couple of listens I'm digging it. This will definitely be his most diverse album yet.

Liking what I'm hearing so far, this will be a purchase for me when it comes out.
Is everyone listening to it in 128 kbps, which isn't good???
That's the only one I could find.
Thanks

The rhymes and flow get an A+.
Overall, the fucking hooks/choruses get a D-, and that's being generous.
