Re: U2: "U2: 360 at the Rose Bowl" -6/3/10

Disappointed with the set list, as I am with the choice of the tour they released on blu first for Madonna, and I know we all complain about set lists with almost every concert release, but U2 has released so many dvd concerts it's pretty much not a problem. With so many great songs, we all have different songs that are probably equally great that don't make one, but are on another.

Still this is their first true concert release in a new format and I really wish there was some old stuff (Gloria, I Will Follow) but I'm most disappointed the blu won't have Pride. Unlike some of the songs that come and go from show to show and tour to tour, I always thought Pride was considered a signature U2 song, one of those tunes that they played almost every night of every tour.

As I stated, there are others I'd like to see, even besides the really old stuff (The Fly, All I Want Is You), but Pride not being on the setlist is disappointing and surprising.

Of course, I already have this pre-ordered.

Interesting that the list starts with "Get on Your Boots." That show was broadcast live on YouTube (which I downloaded and saved until the Blu-ray comes out). The concert started with "Breathe."

Umm, it's right there in the post...

Bonus track Breathe (Live at the Rose Bowl)
So you'll get your song, you just have to access it separately

I wonder if they'll have a regular and Special Edition version. I'd prefer to have everything in one version, but that doesn't seem to be U2's M.O.

Extremely lame that once again, they just can't release a complete show. I will get the BD as I was at the show, but Breathe as a "extra"? Stupid.

Decker, there are 4 versions planned. Single DVD, Deluxe 2-DVD set, Super Deluxe 2-DVD set (2 DVDs, 24-page book, Poster, Set-list, Replica Tour Programme, and 7" Vinyl.) and the Blu-Ray.

There is a trailer available on u2.com

Kinda weak that Breathe is a bonus track if it was actually played first at the show.

I'm with you Chris,100% FAIL! If they had to take a song out then take Boots out and leave Breathe as is,the damn show opener.

I assume then all the 2-disc video supplements would be included in the Blu Ray version? That's the version I'd want.

Yes, I can read. And it isn't "my song"; I'm not a big fan of "Breathe."

My point was that it's disappointing that the DVD/Blu-ray doesn't start with show opener that everyone knows so well from this tour, especially given that so many people have seen the show in question on YouTube.

What you wrote made perfect sense. You shouldn't even have to be defending what you wrote and your not even close to the first person who's brought up issues with removing songs from concerts and then putting them elsewhere on the disc as a "bonus." Makes no effin sense to me why they would do that, good song or bad song. The entire show, from beginning to end, should be what people get and expect to get.

Re: U2: "U2: 360 at the Rose Bowl" -6/3/10

Speaking of U2 concert dvds, I wonder when U23D is coming out on dvd? I think I read somewhere that they didn't want to release it until TV technology improved. Well, (very expensive)3D capable TV's are coming out this year(or are they out already?) so maybe a a dvd release is on the horizon someday?
Quite frankly, I saw U23D in a theater, and I thought the 3D was just so-so.
I would be quite happy with just a U2D version of this movie, because I thought it was a really well made concert film and the performances were good to excellent.

I had heard that they wouldn't put it out until 3D was available in homes. I am not holding my breath on it since they released TWO Vertigo shows already (Chicago, and Milan incomplete)...

If you want there are proshot bootlegs of the shows they filmed U2-3D at. 2006-03-02: River Plate Stadium - Buenos Aires, Argentina

Re: U2: "U2: 360 at the Rose Bowl" -6/3/10

U2360 At The Rose Bowl will be released in the UK on DVD and Blu-ray by Mercury Records on June 7, and in the US on June 3, 2010.

U2360 At The Rose Bowl was the penultimate gig of last year's U2360 Tour in support of their Grammy nominated album No Line on The Horizon. The Rose Bowl performance was the band's biggest show of 2009 and U2's biggest ever US show, with a live audience in excess of 97,000.

The show was also streamed across seven continents via YouTube. The first ever live streaming of a full-length stadium concert, U2360 at the Rose Bowl had over 10 million views on the channel in one week.

Shot entirely in HD, the concert was filmed with 27 cameras and directed by Tom Krueger who had previously worked on U23D, the first live action 3D concert movie taken from U2's Vertigo Tour.

Available in standard and 2-disc deluxe DVD formats , U2360 At The Rose Bowl will also be U2's first concert available in Blu-ray. The deluxe formats and the Blu-ray will feature a new documentary called Squaring the Circle: Creating U2360 with new interviews from U2, Paul McGuinness and the team behind the touring production.

The ground breaking U2360 tour continues this year, with the US leg opening in Salt Lake City on June 3, and the European leg opening in Turin, Italy on August 6.

Tracklisting of U2360 At The Rose Bowl is as follows:
Get On Your Boots, Magnificent, Mysterious Ways, Beautiful Day, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of, No Line On The Horizon, Elevation, In A Little While, Unknown Caller, Until the End of the World, The Unforgettable Fire, City of Blinding Lights, Vertigo, I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight, Sunday Bloody Sunday, MLK, Walk On, One, Where The Streets Have No Name, Ultra Violet (Light My Way), With Or Without You, Moment Of Surrender.

U2360 At The Rose Bowl is released in the following formats:

- Two Disc DVD Deluxe edition
and

Pre-ordered the BR version from Amazon for around $18.99. Good deal in my book, especially compared to the high priced 2 disc sets I'm used to.

I hope I don't have to get the Super Deluxe Edition if I want all the concert and bonus footage on DVD.

I doubt they would... and for what it's worth, historically the price at Best Buy for new U2 releases are always pretty decent the first week of release and then it shoots up the following week. So, if you're on the fence I wouldn't wait too long.

My preorder didn't reflect the new price, so I just canceled an reordered (even though I'm certain the previous price would have been corrected soon enough). Free release date shipping with Amazon Prime -- Nice!
