Recommend some Headphones
 

Actually, looking for two pair. Some cheap but decent "earbud" style headphones and a slightly nicer pair of actual headphones that can be had for under $40. Obviously not looking for high quality but the most bang for my buck. Any deals to be had?

Easiest answer to give. Find something Sennheiser. I've had several, in different styles, and have never been disappointed. I also know several people who have bought them, and I've never heard anything negative said.

I have a pair o f Ultimate Ears, but sometimes find them uncomfortable. I read a piece on Klipsch products that are very favorable. In fact, they have a patent pending on their oblong bud fixtures as othes are round. Apparently this is more of a natural fit to the shape of the ear canal.

Great, I was just thinking I was going to check out some headphones.

In a related note, I'm sure they're great headphones, but I'm already tired of people fawning over those Beats by Dre headphones. Like I said, I'm sure they're really nice, but I feel like people are being taken for suckers. It's like the younger version of those Bose all in one radio things to me. At least that's how it feels.

I use Koss PortaPro headphones (<$30). Worth a listen.

Bump! As I stated earlier in thread I have some older pre-Logitech UEs. Cord is going and rather than replace I'm considering replacement/upgrade. Any recommendations for IEMs in the $75-150 range that are an improvement in sound quality to what I have?

Head fi.org is a wealth of knowdge, but quite overbearing. Posters there seem to regard highly these brands:

AKG
Shure

IEM - in ear monitors. They sit further in canal, and offer noise isolation.

I have a couple of pairs of Shures and love them. In your price range the ones I have are the SE-215s in clear. I added the cord with in-line controls.

I've also had a couple of pairs of UEs, and while I liked them I swear by the Shures. The 215s have replaceable cords, too, so if they get damaged it's a cheap fix.

How is the fit on the Shure's? Even trying different sizes on the UEs I constantly have to adjust them.

Are all dual-drive in-ears $250+? I assume you'd get better detail in lows, mids and highs. As I'm going through similar pains with speaker shopping, it's a cumbersome endeavor. You can read reviews all day long, but without listening to something it can be a trying process.

I've had Audio-Technica noise canceling headphones for four years and have never had any complaints.

I have the Etymotic HF3's (IEMs) and love them.

I also own multiple overear models from Sennheiser and Beats. Beats aren't as bad as everyone says, just way over priced. I got all mine for free.

They've been great for me. They do come with different sizes and styles of tips, and once I found the ones that worked for me I had no problem.

Tried the HiFiman Re-400s at a show and wasnt impressed by them. However, they did give a good reference point to a lot of reviews that I had been reading. Based on that I ended up going with these:

Should arrive tomorrow. I'm excited to have some quality back and ditch these Apple earphones I've temporarily been using. They don't sound bad, but they let in so much noise!

Do yourself a favor and become familiar with V-Moda awesome headphones and ear buds!!! I bought my son a pair of earbuds I think they were $50-$60 bit they start at around $20.

For Over-ear they Start at $100 but trust me they are fantastic. They have a great site you can explore and then check their prices on Amazon.

I am simply furious about a recent purchase of a second hand Bose On-Ear Headphones (Old Version) through Amazon Marketpace. There are supposed to be two connector's from the headphones to whatever you're listening to - why Bose did this is beyond me - well suffice to say, all I got in the order is the 16 inch connector (the other one is 46 inches). 16 inches is way too short... I'd have to have my ipod on my arm for the length to work...

so question, are there are connector's that are 3.5 feet to 4 feet in length that I can purchase that make up the difference and not affect the sound quality? this third party manufacturer's customer ratings/reviews don't wow me.

I have a pair of Sony Professional MDR-7506 that will put most headhones out there to shame. These are some industry standard headphones. Don't get taken by the Dre nonsense. They're the Monster Cable of headphones these days.

Very true. Up until last year they were even actually made by Monster Cable. I find it funny that people want to spend $200+ on a pair of headphones to listen to 128k MP3s. It's like watching exclusively regular def TV on a big screen.
