When I first saw the thread title, I thought of "I'm Alright" by Kenny Loggins from Caddyshack.
From the #1s list, "The Power of Love" from Back to the Future is one of my favs.
Some other non #1s or songs not on the list:
Pretty in Pink -Psychedelic Furs
Don't You (Forget About Me) (Breakfast Club) - Simple Minds (This was a #1 hit)
Romancing the Stone - Eddy Grant
Axl F (Beverly Hills Cop) - Harold Faltermeyer
Oh Yeah (Ferris Bueller's Day Off) - Yello
If You Leave (Pretty in Pink) - OMD
Danger Zone (Top Gun) - Kenny Loggins
Cruel Summer (Karate Kid) - Bananarama

The "Jamaican Dude" is Billy Ocean, who was born in Trinidad. And, the song you're thinking of is "When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going" from The Jewel of the Nile.
From the list, the ones that stick out to me most are "Ghostbusters," "Eye of the Tiger," and "Footloose."

Ah, yes. Sheena Easton! A doll. A real doll.
Bryan Adams had some success early with movie soundtracks - 1985's Heaven was from some movie that went nowhere (some deserted island movie).
And I just Called To Say I Love You by Stevie Wonder was from Woman in Red (I think).
Then there was Lady In Red (is dancing with me-ee)

And former Eagle Glenn Frey had a nice success with movie anthems himself...The Heat Is On from Beverly Hills Cop (went to #2)
You Belong To The City by Glenn Frey was cool, too, but that was from a TV show. I shouldn't have submitted it. Sorry.

Re: the Best 1980's Movie Anthems?
All the John Hughes 80s teen movies had great music. Most of them were not written for the movie they appeared in. They were some great choices to include them in his movies.
Some others not mentioned:
From Weird Science:
Weird Science - Oingo Boingo
Tenderness - General Public
From Sixteen Candles
Happy Birthday - Altered Images
True - Spandau Ballet
If You Were Here - Thompson Twins

"Man in Motion" by John Parr is high-powered. So is the instrumental for the movie.

Re: the Best 1980's Movie Anthems?
There's an 80's action flick with Sam Elliot and Peter Weller called Skakedown. Has the Seger song of same name. Always thought it was from that.
Shooting Star had a song in some comedy about camping or river rafting or something. "Summer Sun"? Early 90s, but has 80s written all over it, "Touch Me Tonight" by Shooting Star in I Come In Peace with Dolph Lundgren.

Re: the Best 1980's Movie Anthems?
For the record, "Jamaican Dude" was Billy Ocean, and while he did "When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going" for Jewel of the Nile (aka "the Michael Douglas/Kathleen Turner movie") and "Get Out of My Dreams" for License to Drive (aka "the Corey Haim/Corey Feldman movie"), I don't think Carribean Queen had anything to do with any movie.
Man, I know way more about Billy Ocean than I thought I did.
Edit: I see Drexl beat me to it.
As for the thread title, I'm partial to Pretty in Pink and If You Leave, both from the movie Pretty in Pink. Plus the entire soundtrack to Repo Man.

Re: the Best 1980's Movie Anthems?
I didn't read closely enough and voted for Ghostbusters. But I prob would have picked Eye of the Tiger had I done a better job of reading.
