The Lord Weird Slough Feg

Anyone into these guys? I recently found out about them through a music blog and now I'm totally hooked. They're like a NWOBHM band with Dee Snider-esque vocals, if that makes any sense. I think they've got a great style with some catchy hooks and solid guitar work. I was surprised to see they've got so many albums out and I've never even heard of 'em.

With a name like that it's a mystery why they're not huge.

I know, right. Actually, after their last album or the one before, they changed their name to just Slough Feg.

New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Diamond Head and early Iron Maiden would fall under that category.

Re: The Lord Weird Slough Feg

I'm a huge Slough Feg fan. They dropped "The Lord Weird" back in 2005. Apparently the band name comes from some celtic bad guy in an '80s comic.

They definitely have a great NWOBHM style going on. My favorite album is Traveller which is based on the sci-fi RPG of the same name. It's harder to think of a more nerdy concept, but it's absolutely brilliant in my opinion:

Atavism is another great album and has that great early '80s Iron Maiden feel to it. Their last two albums are both good, but not great.

I've spent a lot of time in last.fm trying to find new band's that have a similar style and it seems nobody today compares to Slough Feg.

They really are a unique group. I've been listening to their entire catalog this past couple of weeks. Do you know if they tour often? I'd love to see them live.

According to last.fm it doesn't look like they tour that much. Not sure if that's missing shows though. If they came anywhere near me I'd definitely travel to go to a show.
