Hot Chip - One Life Stand (due Feb 1 UK/10 US, dance/synthpop)

I notice there's a lot of love for the synth bands here, what about one of the best newer ones? Their three albums to date have been gems and the two songs released thus far sound just as good. The cd leaked today but I'm holding out until early Feb when it hits shelves. The title track is catchy as sin and a sign we're in for another good album.

The music video is out but it's unembedable

Wow, this is really great. Very few albums lately have left me wanting to listen again right away, but this grabbed me instantly. If their previous work is this good, then I will have to look into purchasing their prior albums as well.

Big fan of Hot Chip... but I have to be in the right mood to listen to them.

Nice to see someone likes it

The first album, "Coming On Strong" was a bit patchy but 2006's "The Warning" and 2008's "Made In The Dark" are both great albums. Made In The Dark is a bit more commercial (Ready For The Floor was a huge hit single in the UK) but outside of the two hit singles, its brilliant.

The new cd is getting good remarks from people who've downloaded it, but I'd rather let the anticipation build since leaks IMO never compare to putting the cd in and listening to it for the first time. Color me old school lol

Absolutely. I only have "The Warning" but the mood has to catch me right to give it a spin.

Looking forward to this one, hopefully it can top The Warning as my favorite Hot Chip album.

So has anyone else checked out the album? For the most part it's a bit more mellow than The Warning and Made In The Dark but I think it's brilliant, although it really lacks an "Over And Over" or "Ready For The Floor" type song that has more mass appeal.

I Feel Better is supposed to be the second release in April.

I like it, but I've only had the chance to listen to it once so far. Albums usually take a few listens to sink in with me, so this one is probably no exception.

I agree with that statement 100%. It took me about eight listens to decide if I liked the Sade album or not. I envy people who worship a cd after first listen, to me it usually takes at least 4-5 listens before the material really begins to get devoured and I can form what I think of it.

I've been loving this one, I think it may be their best yet.

Really digging the title track, Take It In and Alley Cats.

this only took one listen for me and it really sank in, how different this album from their other ones - major thumbs up! looking forward to watching the accompanying DVD.
