I think it's some obscure currency.

When i heard her song, i thought it was Leighton Meester. So if you know what LM sounds like, you know what you are getting into with this one.

I was gonna say how out of touch I feel reading those top-selling albums, but then I realized that even back when I was "young and hip" that the top-selling albums of the day didn't register a blip on my radar either, so I guess the top selling albums, day-to-day, have historically been crap.

Having sampled the musical stylings of the young lady Ke$ha, I would have to say that it's no improvement over Boyle.

I think it's funny how by waiting until January, Ke$ha accomplished what Alicia Keys and Mary J. Blige couldn't (it actually broke each of their streaks of #1 albums), having a #1 album and knocking Boyle out of the top.

I'm looking forward to next week, Vampire Weekend is expected to roll in at #1 in the UK, I wonder if they will do well here.

When she has had a shelf life longer than a carton of milk, then she's accomplished something, let alone having moderate longevity like Keyes or pretty good longevity like Mary J.

Ke$ha won't last. She's an ok at best backing vocalist (see Flo Rida's 'Right Round'), but her stupid Tik Tok song is incredibly bland and annoying. She's all autotune in the whole thing.

I would say MJB and Alicia Keys are real artists. Ke$ha is just some pop blip for now.

are you frigging kidding me? I think Ke$ha is horrifically bad--- she actually makes you yearn for Katy Perry, yet I love Mary J. Blige. I was just pointing out that it's probably smart to hold off to January if you want an easy #1 album considering Mary and Alicia both broke streaks of consecutive #1 albums by releasing it during Boyle-mania, Ke$ha probably wouldn't have even been top 5 last month. Same is expected to happen with Vampire Weekend next week. I love them and am glad to see them expected to debut at #1, but if this came out last month it wouldn't have gone top 10 IMO.

I think you guys are being a little too harsh. The Kesha album is just what it is, a fun pop album with some catchy hooks with a non-vocalist who likes to sing about dancing with no pants on. (seriously, I listened to the album and she mentions this several times. Is that the new thing with kids these days?)

Anyway, we had Milli Vanilli when I was in high school. Kids now have Kesha. It's Pop music and not supposed to be something of substance. I actually kinda liked the album but would need to give it another listen to be certain.
