I loves me some Fu Manchu!
The rest of your picks... not so much.

Re: Recommend Recent Albums for A Fan of Classic Rock

remember the thread starter is looking for "classic rock" style with good lyrics
Fu Manchu is actually the least "classic rock" out of anything on this thread

they are not very melodic and their lyrics are just stoner gibberish
but they are great at big fuzzed out metal riffs with a retro feel
sounds great in a muscle car!

Re: Recommend Recent Albums for A Fan of Classic Rock

I just thought of this thread the other day when Thee Emergency came up on my iPod. I've seen them live a couple of times and they were incredible, but I don't think they tour too often. Their album is definitely worth checking out though.

Hopefully that fits the criteria of this thread. I glanced through it and of the bands I recognized, none of them said "classic rock" to me, so hopefully I'm not misinterpreting what people are looking for here.

Re: Recommend Recent Albums for A Fan of Classic Rock

some Canadian suggestions from the 1990s with a classic rock feel
i know it is not as recent as the thread starter wanted (asked for albums 2000 and on)
but if you like classic rock you can really hear the influence on this stuff

The Tea Party - The River

Big Sugar - Ride Like Hell

The Grapes of Wrath - You May Be Right
these guys wanted to be the Beatles so bad they went to the Abbey Road studio in London to mix their album

The Grapes of Wrath - What Was Going Through My Head
look the bassist even uses a Hofner like Paul did

Ted Leo - Hearts of Oak is full of awesome jams reminiscent of Thin Lizzy in the 70s.

Scott Gorham's Black Star Riders have an album out that is said to capture the Thin Lizzy vibe: "All Hell Breaks Loose".

It is averaging 4.5 stars on Amazon in UK & US.

Micky Moody & Neil Murray's Snakecharmer have a self-titled album which is garnering appreciative reviews via Amazon on both sides of the pond.

(Possibly one of their more bland/commercial tracks but worth posting as a taster...)

I've rediscovered the Smith Westerns. Very much a 70s glam rock vibe -- a little T. Rex, a little Mott the Hoople. Good stuff.

For Bon Scott-era AC/DC fans:

Then of course there's Opeth going totally old school on their last album.

The Vaccines are another current band with a classic rock vibe.
