Weekly album sales (12/9 - 12/15) : Boyle is unstoppable

Boyle has sold another 500K this week. About 80K more than last week. Which brings her sales to around 1.8M in just three weeks. Did anyone see this coming!? It will be interesting to see what she has sold worldwide when all is said and done.

Wow, so Timbaland didn't even break the Top 25? His first Shock Value sold a lot of records.. what a shame.

Timbaland's really been played out in the the past few years, it's all about will.i.am's productions now in terms of pop stars aiming for an urban sound.

He was coming off a string of hits and the big single "The Way I Are" with the first. I'm not familiar with anything on this one.

I am interested in seeing how Susan is going to hold up once the holidays are over. She seems like an ideal Christmas present and usually those type of artists (Babs, Josh Groban, etc..) usually fall off the worst after the end of the Christmas season because they are good "gift" albums but AC radio no longer plays those types of artists so there isn't really an outlet for them.

Holy shit that's awful.

I enjoyed SV2 quite a bit. Critics haven't been so kind to it, though. He's had some good songs. I don't understand why he's not getting radio play. Especially since the lead single plays off of the Twilight fandom sweeping Teen America.

The music buying public are the most fickle out there. A band or singer are huge one minute, with sales through the roof. The next? Ignored. Take Alanis Morrissette for example. Look at her sales over the years. Her material is still strong. And she and her albums just get better with age and in time (IMO). And yet both go all but unnoticed.

Yea, the music industry has really changed for the worst in recent years. Everyone is so ADD now. You see people like Pink and Kelly Clarkson following a 6 million seller with an album that fights to sell 600,000 copies.

Even Alanis' dropoff in sales (16 million to 3 million to 1 million to gold....) was more gradual than what most are having in the current climate.

Given the current CD sales climate, the numbers for the two Glee albums are pretty outstanding. I saw the first volume has sold over 400,000 copies so far. Especially when you factor in that all the singles were already available individually on iTunes right after their respective episodes aired.
