Time Magazine's 10 Best Albums and Songs of 2009
http://www.time.com/time/specials/pa...943810,00.html
1) American Saturday Night by Brad Paisley 2) Bitte Orca by Dirty Projectors 3) Crack the Skye by Mastodon 4) Revolution by Miranda Lambert 5) Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix by Phoenix 6) Love vs. Money by The-Dream 7) Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Pt 2 by Raekwon 8) Veckatimest by Grizzly Bear 9) I and Love and You by the Avett Brothers 10) The Fame Monster by Lady Gaga http://www.time.com/time/specials/pa...944027,00.html 1) "My Life Would Suck Without You" by Kelly Clarkson 2) "Two Weeks" by Grizzly Bear 3) "No Line on the Horizon" by U2 4) "The Fear" by Lily Allen 5) "Crown on the Ground" by Sleigh Bells 6) (Tie) "Stillness Is the Move" by Dirty Projectors and also Solange 7) "White Liar" by Miranda Lambert 8) "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)" by Jay-Z 9) "Sabali" by Amadou and Mariam 10) "Mad World" by Adam Lambert OK, while "Mad World" was possibly Lambert's best performance that I've seen/heard, because he wasn't so wired and effective, it was identical to Gary Jules version from "Donnie Darko". So it didn't stand out for me. I'm most excited to see "The Fear" on this list. It's probably my favorite song of 2009. The Gossip should also be on the top 10 albums. |

That's like the worst album and top song list ever. Between this and their movie selections I wouldn't put faith in anything Time puts out.

I honestly don't know which list is the albums and which is the singles.

Re: Time Magazine's 10 Best Albums and Songs of 2009
I like half of the albums (Dirty Projectors, Mastodon, Phoenix, Raekwon, and Grizzly Bear) and dislike three others (The-Dream, The Avett Brothers, and Lady Gaga) - I haven't listened to the other two.
I like three of the songs (Grizzly Bear, Dirty Projectors, and Sleigh Bells) and I think that the others are all decent (except for the two Lamberts, which I have not listened to). I'm surprised that Sleigh Bells made the list of songs. I thought the song was pretty obscure, but it's fantastic - one of my songs of the year, as well. |

Re: Time Magazine's 10 Best Albums and Songs of 2009
I like the Grizzly Bear, Avett Brothers . . . and Kelly Clarkson songs.

Re: Time Magazine's 10 Best Albums and Songs of 2009
I thought the mastodon cd was boring.

Re: Time Magazine's 10 Best Albums and Songs of 2009
Dumb list. Few people are going to listen to that broad spectrum of music. I can't stand Jay-Z or country, and those fans probably can't stand Mastodon.

I absolutely love the Mastodon album but man the guy writing the article sounds like a pretenious douche. Hopefully Time covering Mastodon doesn't bring more douchy fans, like when I saw them a few months ago. Man I love their music but I miss seeing them in smaller clubs when they were starting out without these "fans".

Re: Time Magazine's 10 Best Albums and Songs of 2009
that's a horrible list.
Out of all the musicians this decade, Kelly Clarkson makes it with the number one song. Is it the BEST song of the decade? Ummm, no, I hadn't even heard of it until I read this thread. Bullshit. |

Re: Time Magazine's 10 Best Albums and Songs of 2009
Albums I really like an awful lot:
Crack the Skye by Mastodon Revolution by Miranda Lambert Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix by Phoenix Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Pt 2 by Raekwon Album that has some redeeming characteristics: The Fame Monster - Lady Gaga Albums I think are overrated: Bitte Orca by Dirty Projectors Veckatimest by Grizzly Bear Albums I honestly haven't heard of I and Love and You by the Avett Brothers Love vs. Money by The-Dream It could be a far worse list if you ask me and it's probably better than Pitchfork's list. |
Re: Time Magazine's 10 Best Albums and Songs of 2009
Aside from the Raekwon album, LOL at that list.
