Alice In Chains (2010 tour)
Anyone going to check out AIC on the new tour? It seems like Jerry Cantrell is singing lead on most of the new stuff even though they have a new lead singer.
Also, has anyone seen them live with William Duvall? What are some of the older songs where he does more of the singing?

Re: Alice In Chains (2010 tour)
I've seen them twice this year with their new frontman.
The first time I found it to be like a guitar hero version of Alice In Chains, Layne being irreplacable, however the music was TERRIFIC!
The second time I was very impressed with the new frontman, I don't know why but I enjoyed it more. Could be it needed some getting used to.
I would recommend attending a show if you are into Alice In Chains. So go

I'll be looking forward to the set lists from the upcoming tour. I'm guessing they'll play 4 songs or so from the new album and the rest will be old stuff.
I can't wait to see them.

I would like to go see these guys but the last time they came to Philly the show was sold out even before it went on sale. I'm not paying premium to see these guys or anybody else for that matter.

I got halfway decent seats for DAR (one of the small boxes down front). I originally had sixth row...but they were against the wall. We've sat there before, and you are right in front of an enormous row of speakers and it's deafening. That place doesn't need the sound system they set up for concerts, it's overkill, it would be enough for Verizon! Looking forward to the show, never saw them with Layne, unfortunately.

Re: Alice In Chains (2010 tour)
I saw them a couple years ago at The Norva in Norfolk, VA....and I plan to see them next March at The National in Richmond (buying my ticket tomorrow morning).....
I was lucky enough to see the "original" lineup....I am putting "original" in quotes as it was with Layne back at Lollapalooza 1993, but already at that point they had switched bassists so not technically the original "original" lineup...

Based purely on hearing the new cd, I think I like the new singer better than Layne Staley, at least on record. Similar sounding but the new guy's voice/style isn't as harsh.

Seen them three times with the new lineup and am still very impressed with Duvall. He's able to belt out Layne's parts but it never feels like he's trying to ape him. He brings his own force to the stage. And it also gives Cantrell more time on the mic which is great. They all work together really well.

Re: Alice In Chains (2010 tour)
I wanted to check them out but tickets sold out way to fast for the show in St Louis. I messed up and tried buying them a day late and that wasn't happening. And I think they will sound good. Definitely love the haunting vibe of Layne, but Duvall sounds like he can belt it out.

I checked out the 4 live clips from when they were on Jimmy Kimmel. They sounded pretty good.

I kinda wish they'd play the new title track. My best shot at going to their show will be the one in KC. Tickets are probably sold out at this point though.

Re: Alice In Chains (2010 tour)
That being said, it was a hell of show. I was suprised at how good of a job William Duvall did in place of Layne Staley.
I'd go see them again with the new lineup in a heartbeat, but the tix have been really hard to get in these venues that only seat a few thousand ppl.
