Ronnie James Dio has early stages of Stomach Cancer

I hope he pulls through, cause i've actually never seen him perform live, in any carnation

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/bla...sitemID=131004

Wendy Dio, the wife and manager of legendary heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW), has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"Ronnie has been diagnosed with the early stages of stomach cancer. We are starting treatment immediately at the Mayo Clinic. After he kills this dragon, Ronnie will be back on stage, where he belongs, doing what he loves best, performing for his fans.

"Long live rock and roll, long live Ronnie James Dio.

"Thanks to all the friends and fans from all over the world that have sent well wishes. This has really helped to keep his spirit up."

Get well soon RJD. Metal's eternal reigning emperor, as far as I'm concerned.

Did she really say, "Kills this Dragon"? That aside I hope he heals up soon. I have seen him live and he still kicks the asses of much younger singers.

This is bad. Really bad. Stomach cancer is usually fatal. Hopefully they caught it early enough that he can recover and beat the odds.

I'm rooting for you, Ronnie! If you make a full recovery and can tour again I certainly won't be the Last In Line to get tickets...

When I was being treated for bowel cancer, I shared a room with a man that had his entire stomach removed due to stomach cancer.
So if push comes to shove, I think that would be his final option.

I was hoping to catch him this time he toured Europe, through complacency not having seem him for more years than I care to remember.

I hope he gets good advice and makes some kind of useful recovery. Per the above and other oinline sources, the Japanese seem good at dealing with this.

Terrible news, but if anybody has the tenacity to beat it, it's Dio. Best of luck to him! Saw him on the H&H tour earlier this year and it was an amazing show.

Dio doesn't kill dragons, he slays them.

One of the last real kings of metal.

Re: Ronnie James Dio has early stages of Stomach Cancer

A message from Ronnie on Blabbermouth.net

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/bla...sitemID=132287
"I'd like to take the time to thank everyone for the most wonderful gift I have ever received — your good wishes, your prayers, your support, your tears and laughter, your anger, your rejoicing, and most of all the unwavering love you have bestowed upon me. I guess I've always felt that we were one person and that you've allowed me to be our spokesman, but until this time of my greatest peril, the truth was perhaps slightly hidden. It is hidden no more. Together we shall face the foe and live on to climb higher mountains and explore greater magic. Together we cannot fail.

"Please accept my never-ending love and dedication to you all.

"So it is written, and so it shall be.

"Magic, from Ronnie James Dio."

According to a posting on the BLACK SABBATH fan site Black-Sabbath.com, fans can send get-well cards to Ronnie James Dio through the official fan club address:

Dio Fan Club
12400 Ventura Boulevard, Suite 624
Studio City, CA 91604

Additionally, if you'd like to send an email to Ronnie, you can do so via [email protected]. After a short time, Black-Sabbath.com webmaster Joe Siegler will print them out and pass them over to Ronnie and his wife/manager Wendy Dio.

Dio is already announced as part of the tour next year that includes Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax, and Motorhead. Let's hope he well enough by then.

Booking Heaven and Hell at this point may be overly optimistic. If Ronnie's up to it then that would be great, but I just have a bad feeling about it.

I hope I'm wrong.
