King Crimson 40th Anniversary reissues
Did anyone get any of the first three releases? I'm trying to make sense of the difference between the 2CD set and the 1CD/1DVDA set. I can't get a good idea if everything on the 2CD set is on the other. Even King Crimson's webste provides little information.
http://king-crimson.com/ On a side note, does anyone have the DVD Neal and Jack and Me? Just noticed this release. I had the pleasure of seeing King Crimson on the Three of a Perfect Pair tour. Right up there with the greatest shows I've ever seen. |

The 2 cd set doesn't have the 5.1 mixes[afaik that's the only difference]

Re: King Crimson 40th Anniversary reissues
The DVDA set lists disc 2 as the DVDA with 5.1 surround but does not list all the extra outtakes and such from disc 2 of the CD set. (Speaking of In the Court of the Crimson King reissue here). I don't see where those extra tracks are on the DVDA version.

Argh. I already bought all the previous remasters. I wonder if these would be worth it. Also, I wonder why these aren't being released in chronological order.

Re: King Crimson 40th Anniversary reissues
The ITCOTCK 5-disc box set looks purty damn sweet, but it's also damn expensive. It appears most of these feature some alt. mixes and 5.1 DVD-Audio tracks. As badly as I'd like to re-buy them, not sure if I'm gonna. I might make an exception for Red, however.

DVD-A? Really? And why are there so many different versions of each album? Gah, this is becoming really annoying.

Perhaps this is the best place to ask: I've only heard a handful of King Crimson songs in my life, but I sorta dug them. What would be a good album to start with?

It's generally considered that their best albums are In The Court of the Crimson King (the one pictured above), Larks Tongues In Aspic, and Discipline. They are also representative of the major periods of the band's career.
