Have you seen Alison Moyet lately? WOW!

One year ago during the Yaz reunion tour:

And one year later:

Good for her! She also has a new album out, "The Best of Alison Moyet". Most tracks remastered.

Looks like she lost too much weight.

We'll see if she keeps it off in a couple years.

Did she have the surgery?

And I agree, let's see if she keeps it off. I know Al Roker and a few other celebs had that stomach bypass thing and have started to fatten up again.

She looks great and love her. All I see is an import for $34 I'll wait for a cheaper price.

I'm sure she did. That's the only way you make that transition in a year after a quarter century of being very big.

This brings up a point that I always wonder : Do you congratulate someone for losing a lot of weight after bariatric surgery? I mean it's great that they got thin, but it wasn't really the result of diet or hard work or even will power -- they simply had no other choice but to overeat and vomit repeatedly. I usually will say something positive but not actually congratulatory like "That's great" or "Good for you". Thoughts?

Re: Have you seen Alison Moyet lately? WOW!

On a radio interview a few years ago I distinctly recall her commenting that between albums/tours her weight varies enormously. Logic dictates that she meant that she lost weight when out of the public eye or else the interviewer would not have been commenting on the change. Anyway, I'm sure the "slimline" version is the more healthy although yo-yoing is probably not a good thing for one.

Looking atthe last comment, I once walked past a formerly weighty colleague I'd not seen for some time who had undergone a similar transformation.
My comment was:
"Oh, you're looking.... well!".
Her response:
"Yes, I've lost 70 pounds....".

For those interested, she looked very good on it and, yes, she has since put it all back on

(But as long as she is happy, which she seems to be....)

Absolutely congratulate or say something positive! Yeah, it wasn't the best way to lose it but unless they had an actual condition that put the weight on then there were mental/emotional issues causing excessive gain. Hell, even if there weren't already issues, being that fat causes all kinds of societal degradation and I'm sure they've developed them. Maybe making them feel better about themselves will help them keep it off. Probably not, but it's def. the right thing to do.

So long as she sounds divine when she opens her delicious vocal chords....

Saw her on Graham Norton from early Nov 2009? Phew - she sounded great and looked fantastic.
