50 Cent - Before I Self Destruct (11/23/09)
50's long-delayed fourth and final album on Aftermath will (supposedly) hit stores on November 23rd.
Personally, I think 50 fell off a long time ago. I didn't care for The Massacre and Curtis was pretty much garbage. I think his best days are well behind him, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested in giving this a spin.
It leaked today, so Lord knows if this will cause an indefinite delay - his first 3 singles have bombed and only one of them is on the retail release (Ok, You're Right). His new one out with Ne-Yo hasn't done much to the charts but it's not too bad.
It's still very flawed. The best song on the album is Psycho which features Eminem - with Em being the reason the song is so good (lyrics along the lines of 'classic' Em), but as a whole, it's fair. I'd probably rank his solo albums as such:
1) Get Rich or Die Tryin'
2) Power of the Dollar
3) The Massacre
4) Curtis
5) Before I Self Destruct
Surprisingly, no Lloyd Banks or Tony Yayo are featured guests on here so there's no G-Unit. The only other artists are Eminem, Ne-Yo, and R. Kelly.
So as a whole it's fair. I'd give it a C-. It's weak and far from what 50 was capable of.

All of Game's albums have been fantastic. I find it funny that 50 kicked Game and Buck out of his clique, and honestly, they're both much better rappers and better off without him.
50 WAS a good rapper. His early stuff was fantastic. I have no idea what the fuck happened.

I agree... The Massacre was terrible, which was shocking after the amount of decent tracks that were on his earlier albums.
But The Massacre has "Hate It or Love It (G-Unit Remix)" which is one of the best tracks to appear on a 50 album.

I thought the Massacre was pretty good with about half the tracks being worthy. After that is has gone way downhill.
I listened to the first 3 songs on this piece of sh!t and almost couldn't believe it could be THAT BAD.
The production on the Eminem song is good and the track is pretty good, but holy shit, this thing is terrible.
I know Dr. Dre had his hands all over Get Rich or Die Trying, and he came out and said it was going to be a classic. The production, songs and rhymes were great.
But this guy is done. Most of rap is done. There isn't anybody you can really count on these days.
