Best Rock Bands of the Last 10 Years
Okay, let me set the stage. What are the best rock bands of the last ten years? They don't have to be formed in the last ten years, but we're talking their output from 2005 to present. I have several but I'll start with three - Spoon, TV on the Radio and My Morning Jacket.
One note - with the ten years we're talking recordings, not just live performances.

Yeah, I left that point up for debate. Rock is thrown around pretty liberally these days and I would hope we do that here.

The Smith Street Band or The Hold Steady. Or, using a broader definition of rock, Local Natives.

I'd probably go with Foo Fighters. One of the biggest actual rock bands out there who put out consistently good albums and tour regularly.

I'd add another vote for Drive-By Truckers although a lot of their best stuff falls just outside of the ten-year limit.

Agreed. A friend turned me on to them a few years back and I enjoyed all their albums. The Sound of Madness was especially strong.
Maybe to some they are more a recent version of a 80's metal hair band, but My Darkest Days two albums were quite good.

For my tastes, Wishbone Ash. Four consecutive winners.
2006 Clan Destiny
2007 Power of Eternity
2011 Elegant Stealth
2014 Blue Horizon

bands very few have heard of: mewithoutYou and La Dispute.
band everyone has heard of: Foo Fighters.
The Foo Fighters are probably the best, really big, straight up rock and roll band.

A few good bands that I don't think have been mentioned:
Band of Horses
Black Keys
Calexico (I don't think of them much as rock, but they're categorized as indie rock).
Alabama Shakes
The Hagar/Satriani/Anthony/Smith supergroup Chickenfoot is better than it should have been (although, like Velvet Revolver, I don't think they'd make many "best" lists).
Jack White's side projects were mentioned. I especially like The Raconteurs.
