This is heavier than music I typically like, but it's also wonderfully melodic. House of Shakira is generally an excellent AOR band:

Nada Surf just released a covers album and do this obscure song by Bill Fox ("Electrocution"). I'm a huge Teenage Fanclub fan and this is very much along those lines. This'll be near the top of my fave 2010 tunes.

One more power pop tune. The Delays third album was only available as an import (crazy) and this tune just rockets the melodies into orbit. Maybe a tad bit cheesy, but I love this song ("Love Made Visible")

I love this tune. This is towards the end of Chet's life, just a year before he passed in fact. He was really good again there in those last few years, in fact probably his best work was his last stuff in those last few years.

Reviving this thread after almost a year, here's "To Try for the Sun", a lovely song from Lindsey Buckingham's previous-to-last album. It's originally a song by Donovan, but this version is much better.

My uncle looked a LOT like the guitar player from Wishbone Ash (the one with the Flying V) and when he was younger he'd hit up bars when they'd play Chicago and pick up chicks saying he was the guy. :lol:

I remember visiting this thread when it was first started, but for some reason I don't think I ever posted in here. I still listen to Dark Mean occasionally. I also saw a lot of bands that I love posted in here such as The Constellations, Beirut, and The Dears. I somehow had never heard the song by The National and St. Vincent posted near the beginning despite loving both artist.

Back on topic: This Martin Briley song is a lot of fun. I feel like I need to dig in to more of his stuff.

This is from 2002 and was a moderate hit. I don't know why, but it's a polarizing song. I find it glorious, moving, and inspirational, if naive. Video's cool, too. I don't know much about the band, even though it's from here.
