Early Bee Gees music sound a lot like The Beatles. Check out I've Just Gotta Get A Message To You and To Love Somebody. The Bee Gees were obviously inspired by them.

I find it amazing that Oasis are often bashed for demonstrating their love of The Beatles and yet many other bands (such as Cheap Trick) are applauded for this very same transparency. BTW, I tend to love all bands that have a Beatle sound, so this thread should be interesting.

I must not have very good hearing or something - I just don't hear the Beatles sound in INXS or Tears for fears.
My favorite Beatles 'sound-a-like' would probably be The Smithereens; although I think their attempt to 'remake' Meet the Beatles was a miserable failure. Up until I heard that, I thought the idea of them covering the Beatles would work really well

Re: Beatles sound-alikes?
John Lennon was once asked about more Beatles records sometime in the 70s and his answer was that if you wanted to hear what the Beatles would be doing ...listen to ELO!

ELO would be the closest sounding like the Beatles, especially since Lynne worked closely with Harrison and ended up helping out on the Anthology.

It's a shame Lynne was not nearly as good of a songwriter as Lennon, McCartney, or Harrison. And after hearing that awful "Don't Bring Me Down (Bruce)" song, I'd argue not as good as Ringo, either.

This was who I was going to mention. I had a friend who was majorly into the Beatles in college, and he thought the Rembrandts sound is what the Beatles may have sounded like in the '90's.
