Foo Fighters Ready Two New Songs For 'Greatest Hits
Foo Fighters will commemorate the group's 15th anniversary with the Nov. 3 release of "Foo Fighters Greatest Hits" on Roswell/RCA. The group recorded two new songs for the set -- "Word Forward" and "Wheels," which the quartet debuted at a July 4 barbecue honoring military heroes at the White House -- with producer Butch Vig at the Foos' own 606 studio. They'll join Grammy Award-winning songs such as "The Pretender," "All My Life" and "Learn To Fly," along with "Best Of You," "Times Like These," "My Hero, "Everlong" and others.
The release of "Greatest Hits" will come at a time the individual Foos are dispersed to other projects. Founder and leader Dave Grohl is working with Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones and Josh Home of Queens of the Stone Age in Them Crooked Vultures, whose debut album is due out in October. And bassist Nate Mendel is touring with the reunited Sunny Day Real Estate, which is also releasing remastered versions of 1994's "Diary" and 1995's "LP2," each with two bonus tracks.
Mendel tells Billboard.com that the Foos' hiatus is "kind of open-ended. We were pretty much planning to take this year off and start writing. This fall or winter we'll probably start writing new Foo Fighters stuff."

Damn November 3rd is gonna be a pretty good release day for music. I'll pick this up plus Nirvana's Bleach 20th Anniversary and Nirvana's Live at Reading albums.

I've found their albums often have a lot of filler, but great singles, definitely getting this.

Have they ever released an official studio version of Times Like These acoustic? If not, I would love that on here. But hopefully not at the expense of the electric version.

Since I buy everything Foo Fighters I can get my hands on, this is a no brainer... I'm relieved to hear it will have 2 new tracks - nothing worse than a greatest hits cd with no new material (but then again, being force to pay $12 for 2 songs isn't great either). Still, for those casual fans who never bought the albums (I disagree about the filler comment made earlier) this is a good way to get a taste of what the band is about.

own the Foo Fighters discography, so I see no need to get this.
I guess I am the only one who hates Greatest Hits albums.

About a year ago I put together my own Foo Fighters Greatest Hits playlist. At the risk of seeming conceited, I like my title better. I call it The Best Of Foo. Here's my track list:
1. Best Of You
2. Big Me
3. The Pretender
4. Learn To Fly
5. Monkey Wrench
6. Everlong
7. This Is A Call
8. I'll Stick Around
9. Long Road To Ruin
10. DOA
11. Next Year
12. Cold Day In The Sun
13. All My Life
14. Skin And Bones (Acoustic Live)
15. Let It Die
16. Times Like These
17. Walking After You
18. Low
19. Best Of You (Acoustic Live)
I love that playlist and listen to it in my car often. That fits on a single CD. I've given it to a couple of friends/employees unfamiliar with the Foo Fighters and they all love it.

Funny, it never occurred to me that My Hero wasn't on the playlist. It's on my itunes video compilation and I thought I had all those tracks represented here. I'll have to update the playlist. Thanks.

also it doesnt have Mountain of You or Butterflies... oh nevermind.
Of course love the Foo's, best full on rock band playing these days, but I do not need the greatest hits since I own everything and had already downloaded some live versions of the two new songs, so maybe I'll pick it up cheap or hope that one of my friends who knows I love the Foos will just buy it for me.
I love Greatest Hits for some bands, but the Foo's stuff is great all round and you would be missing some of the best by just getting what was considered the hits.
I always liked that they didnt release a Hits cd but I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.

That and "Friend of a Friend" were two of my last cuts. I wanted it to fit on a single CD. But as we now know, I need to make at least one more cut to put "My Hero" into the mix.

Have to be honest as much as I like Foo Fighters and know its one of their most popular songs I have never really cared a whole lot for "My Hero". I'd prefer just about any of their other singles but that's just me.

Re: FOO FIGHTERS: "Foo Fighters Greatest Hits" 11/3/09
I own all their albums, so I'll probably just download the new songs if they're available. For their last couple albums, the singles tended to be among the better songs on them, as far as I'm concerned. But songs like "Alone + Easy Target", "Oh George", "Hey Johnny Park!", "Up In Arms" and "Stacked Actors" would be on my best-of along with some of their hits.
I'm also not a huge fan of "My Hero". It's a good song, but it was never make a single CD compilation I'd make. Unless it was an MP3 disc, of course.

How can they call it a "greatest hits" and have two new songs on there?!?!?! How do they know the songs are going to be received well by the public and chart and be a "hit"?

Someone on the EW comments section noted that the track listing they have is missing "Wheels" and "Word Forward", which are the two new songs.
