Anyone here into 80's American hardcore/punk? Bands like: Bad Brains, Articles of Faith, Black Flag, Urban Waste, Minor Threat, Dead Kennedys, Reagan Youth, The Mob, Agent Orange, Crucifix, Wasted Youth.... and so on.

I limited this to American bands, but some of the best were from Japan, Spain, and Scandinavia.

A little. Black Dots is one of my favorite albums. After Rock For Light, I didn't care much for Bad Brains output until Build A Nation, which is OK.

I think the only band that I like that would fit into this category is Husker Du.

Yes to Black Flag and Dead Kennedys and Agent Orange. I still listen to those especially the first two. Haven't really heard much of the rest.

I love most NYHC, but I could never get into Agnostic Front. I think it was the whole right wing aspect to their music; although, United Blood is pretty good. Cro-Mags didn't do it for me either. Need to check out Warzone. Have you heard The Abused?? If not you should definitely check them out.

Probably my favorite NYHC band is Antidote. They only released one E.P. but man was it good. Gorilla Biscuits were top notch as well.

Always liked the Dead Kennedys, and Black Flag is interesting, but the older I get, the less I like low-fi music.

You mean "early Husker Du". Their mid-period/latter stuff was certainly not hardcore!

Yes, I listen to mostly early-mid 80's American punk these days. Hardcore, skate punk, early good pop stuff (Descendents)

I really like early Gang Green, not so much the later stuff.

"Victim in Pain" is Agnostic Front at their undisputed best, before they dabbled in crossover. If you don't like that one, then you won't like any of their other stuff. Yeah, Miret's voice isn't the best, but that album is killer. Cro-Mags grew on me after a while. "Age of Quarrel" is the only Cro-Mags record I like. Gorilla Biscuits were definitely good. Too bad Civ couldn't keep it up. Antidote is good. Listening to "Thou Shalt Not Kill" as I type. Minor Threat is the gold standard for me, though. You should also check out Negative Approach if you haven't already.

The seminal Warzone record is "Don't Forget the Struggle, Don't Forget the Streets" but that can be hard to find. I don't have it myself, but from what I understand "The Victory Years" is pretty good as its a partial discography. This might be your best bet to introduce yourself to Warzone goodness. This is correct. There was a double album CD put out by Century Media that contained DFTS, DFTS and Open You Eyes (produced by Dr. Know of the Bad Brains) but it is now OOP.
