Muse - The Resistance - 9/14/2009
So, Muse has announced their fifth album for release on 9/14/2009. No tracklisting yet. Anyone else excited?

I love me some Muse. One of the best rock bands out there. Seems like its been a while since their last album.

I gather though the only US touring they'll do for this release will be as opener for U2 in the Fall (I hope I'm wrong though)

I am a huge MUSE fan. This is great news. With a new Tonic and OLP albums coming this year as well, it's a big year music wise for me!

Wikipedia has some comments by the band on the album's direction:
In an interview with BBC 6 Music, Bellamy commented that the album is to show distinct classical influences, and that it's "all very orchestral". In the February issue of Australian youth magazine jMag, published by radio station Triple J, it was said that Matt Bellamy had announced in the band's forum that he had written the "hardest song ever". He said "There's a new song in three parts, which I have been working on sporadically for many years. As a large percentage of the composition is orchestral... I've been arranging the orchestral elements myself, which is taking a long time." He hopes that the tracks will feature as the finale to their fifth album. |

sadly, I don't think it's possible...'Absolution' was Muse's crowning acheivement and that rarely, if ever, gets duplicated in an artist's career...
but on the other hand, one can hope!! Couldn't agree more. That album is indeed one to match. Or top. It's spectacular. |

Absolution was definitely their best, but Black Holes was top notch.

In case anyone likes B-Sides, remixes and live versions, iTunes just put up a bunch of Muse EP's last week. I'm happy because I got two more B-sides I didn't previously have.

One of the tracks has been leaked. Here's only a partial sample, but it is truly smokin. From day one I've always said that Muse reminds me of Queen meets Nirvana meets Radiohead. But never had they sound more like Queen than at the 1:17 mark on this clip. WOW!

I really like the new song United States of Eurasia. Has a Queen feel to it, but still has a distinct Muse sound.
