Queen members have their eyes on Lambert

What the hell, everyone kept saying how natural a fit this is.

It certainly looked pretty natural to me at the finale... I think Adam needs to go find his own Queen though. It's tough to say at this point, but that kid has the potential to be a Freddy Mercury in his own right. It seems wasteful for him to make a career emulating that greatness.

Yes, I'd have my eyes on Miranda too. She's hot.

Oh hell, the guy from American Idol? Just let it rest, please! Or give the band a new name.

Of course it's a natural fit. Lambert starred in Highlander, and Queen did the soundtrack. But can he sing?

:rimshot:

Yeah, for fuck sake Queen, let it go. You're now down to just two original members. You're not Queen without Freddie Mercury and John Deacon and you never will be. Move the hell on or change your name. Please!

Sure would sound better than Paul Rodgers. He needs to forge his own path, though.

I think they should do the Velvet Revolver thing and just change their name. I know Brian and Roger sang songs for the band from the beginning but Freddie will always be the member everyone associates with the band. The fact that John Deacon doesn't participate doesn't exactly help IMO

Queen's crap, so I'd say it's a perfect fit.

hmmm, I'm willing to bet you've never heard a note off Queen II or anything off A Night At The Opera besides Bohemian Rhapsody and You're My Best Friend.

What does this mean? Last I heard, Velvet Revolver was going to keep their name, even after they get their new singer that is replacing Scott Weiland....

You didn't get it? He meant that former members of Guns N Roses didn't continue to use the name when forming VR.

Because they don't own the rights to the name and Axl does.

Thank you...
It is pretty common knowledge that Axl owns everything associated with GNR, and therefore Velvet Revolver was never going to be called that....
Saying "they should do the VR thing and change the band name" makes no sense, as Slash, Duff, and Matt are/were not "Guns N' Roses" and were not trying to be known as GNR even if they COULD use the name....

Good grief, I think that's his point. These guy's shouldn't be trying to be known as Queen anymore.

That said, I don't care. I'd buy a great album of original stuff from them with Adam, but it has nothing to do with whether or not they are called Queen (granted, I have no confidence that such and album might happen).

The Queen guys are in their 60s. They are set for life and playing a few shows a year for fun, and some new fans who have come to the band after Freddie's death. It won't be a long term deal. Adam would be WELL advised to work with them for one reason: Brian and Roger have been around the block many times. Who better to teach him how to survive in the business?

As for VR, Slash was very, very stupid. He had an earlier incarnation with Josh Todd and Keith Nelson from Buckcherry, plus him, Duff and Matt. They even played a few gigs and wrote some songs. Then Slash scuttled the whole thing. To this day, Josh doesn't know why, Slash never said a word. They got Mr. Reliable and Responsible Scott Weiland and the second guitarist, Josh and Keith reformed Buckcherry, did the "15" album, and I would argue are in a better spot than VR. Josh and Keith got their s**t together. Slash chose a guy repeatedly rehabbed to no effect over a guy who was clean. Dumb.

That didn't work out too well for JD Fortune...

Slash addressed this in his book, and I thought he was pretty clear that Josh Todd's voice wasn't a good match for their music (although I'd love to hear it for myself). While I love Buckcherry, Slash is Slash, and will always be in a "better spot" than most bands, least of all one that nobody will probably even remember in 10 years...

Thank you, someone gets it!!!

I can't believe my comment about Velvet Revolver got more flak than someone who likely only knows the 4 or 5 Queen songs that gets played on classic rock radio and dismissing them as crap did. Anyone whose ever investigated the ALBUMS knows that Queen had a lot more going for them than just Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You and Another One Bites The Dust.

Couldn't you say the same thing with Queen for crying out loud? If Slash "isn't GNR", then is Brian May Queen? I know damned well that all four members were songwriters and Brian and Roger had their songs they sang on the albums, but I think if you asked ten people on the street who they first think of when they think Queen, they'll say Freddie. I think the general consensus amongst people is that Queen ceased to exist the day Freddie died. and Brian and Roger carrying on the name with new singers would be like Paul and Ringo doing "The Beatles" or Dave Grohl and Krist Novaselic continuing as "Nirvana".

So yes, I do think they should do a new group ala Velvet Revolver that ISN'T Queen and doesn't try to be known as such.

Re: Queen members have their eyes on Lambert

You are missing my point....

Based on your original quote, I thought perhaps VR was going to go by a new name once they get their new singer....

I don't disagree that "Queen" in their present form is rather silly....they probably should get a different name....but using VR as an example did not make sense as a comparison in relation to GNR, as GNR WAS/IS still around.....VR just happened to be a band with three former members of GNR in it, not a classic/all time great band that lost or changed their singer....
