Re: Howard Stern Radio Show Talk

I have xm and picked up the best of sirius for christmas. I didn't get to hear the show until after new year's as they were on vacation. I like it, but I get the feeling that Howard really doesn't want to do the show anymore. They have a four day work-week, and take vacations about once every six weeks or so, and yet you can still hear him talking like he doesn't want to be there. I know it is an early morning, but the channel is designed to replay the show all day long. Maybe if they record the show at a more decent hour, the show will have more life to it. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Howard Stern Radio Show Talk

just something to consider:

Howard has been saying "when this contract is over, I'm done." since at LEAST the early 90s.

But I do agree, it sounds more and more like he could care less about being there, and it shows in the quality of a lot of what hhe does. I still listen to every minute, every day, but the energy that used to be there has certainly waned in favor of "when can I leave?"

Are they going to be back tomorrow or do they have the whole week off?

Nope. Off all week. They've been running commercials all weekend about people like Jimmy Kimmel and Jerry O'Connell doing their favorite H.S. moments all this week. With others.

I actually welcome them being off this week. My stiletto is almost full so I could use the extra time to catch up.
Didn't realize how many other Stern show fans there were here.
Why does Robin even bother with the clips any more? Howards cuts them off every time after about 2 seconds because he just wants to get the hell out of there.

Once a week, maybe on Thursdays, but once a week they should always have Gilbert sit in for the last hour of the show.

Yesterday's (Monday's) clips featured the infamous Abe Hirschfeld call, and it's one of those classic "Gilbert mercilessly goofs on a caller" moments. The only Gilbert moment I like more are those sterling 15 minutes during which he and Howard ruthlessly rip into Kelsey Grammar's wife's Irritable Bowel Syndrome. ("Now Camille... I just laid down fresh newspaper this morning...")

I don't know about that. I'm sure Gilbert is far too busy with other projects to accommodate such a regularly scheduled guest appearance.

Never underestimate the appeal of complimentary bottled water!

Apropos of everything, but I saw Gilbert live about a week and a half ago. After the show he did a meet-n-greet where he was selling autographed copies of his DVD for $25. Easily worth the investment, plus not only did I get a photo but I got him to do his "singing rabbi" schtick as well.

I thought his show was absolutely hysterical... but you to inherently find Gilbert hilarious to do so. It's all about delivery. It seemed only half the audience was really into it -- mostly men -- but the people in that half were *loving* it. Otherwise, his act is mostly jokey schtick in that classic Gilbert delivery. YMMV.

And back to Howard, you know which Wack-Packer I *really* miss? Elegant Elliot Offen. Ginormous pain in the ass he was, but damn if he wasn't funny, RIGHT? GANGSTER-STYLE, RIGHT?!?!?!

He's probably in jail or dead. Speaking of, I really miss Hank. Imagine the great phone calls we would have with Hank taking on Eric the Midget Moscerino.

I second that! I'd love to hear him on the phone with Eric the Midget, as Johnny Frato mediates.

He's banned from the studio, right? I think I remember something about him putting his fist through a wall in the hallway, and he's never been back since. They never even reference him anymore.

I can understand not inviting him back into the studio, but get that crazy mother-fucker on the phone!

Are you talking about Hank? If so, Hank has been dead for almost 10 years now.

Not Hank; Elegant Elliot Offen. And yeah, I heard he was banned too, which sucks but I heard he was completely out of control in the studio.

A phone call here or there would be nice, though.

You know what totally needs to be retired from the show? Sybian rides.

Let's be honest: they're boring as hell to listen to. The show grinds to a dead halt so some supa-ho can fake orgasmic screeches while a machine hums in the background. This sorta shit was entertaining maybe 20 years ago. Nowadays, when half the universe has free porn on demand? Not so much.

The only entertaining Sybian ride of the last 5 years was when they had Rappin' Granny on there.

Couldn't stand Ellegant Elliot Offen. Him and the Jesus Twins are the only guests that have ever made me turn off Howard.

I miss Elegant too. I found him hilarious with his nonfuckingstop plugs. I have been wondering why it has been so long since he was on the show in any capacity, but I guess him being banned would explain it.

Elegant was annoying. A lot of the whackpackers just run their course. I don't believe he actually punched a wall. He was acting really crazy in front of Sirius and Sirius management banned him if I remember correctly.

Agreed, although there has been a few good moments as a result (Gary and the welder's helmet). They are pretty good to watch on Howard TV, but kinda boring over the radio. Rappin' Granny did give a good ride, though!

I think the Eric the Midget calls and everyone making fun of him are the best.

I can't stand Hate Man...always turn off Howard when he plays his clips. Not Funny. How many times can Howard listen to him call Robin the N-word.

Hate Man drags it down for me too, but luckily they seem to be few and far between. Sour Shoes, too, unless he's calling Langford's house.

When Eric the Midget tried to get Johnny Fratto to "whack" that kid who went to school with him because he complained that Eric ruined his High School experience with all the construction for his wheel chair......I started to love Eric the Midget. "You know what to do...you KNOW what to do!"

Same here. It went from absolute hatred to crossing my fingers that Howard picks up his call every day.

Eric "I've been on hold for 2 hours...ack ack"
Artie "Alright, thanks Eric. See ya. Go fuck yourself"
