I really like Battle for the Sun, pretty Epic in a Muse type way.

I loved Meds but hated all of their previous albums.
I'll give this one a listen.

Really you hated Sleeping With Ghosts? The sound and feel to me wasn't that far off from Meds.

Really? [Almost] Totally the opposite. The first two are absolute classics in my opinion, with 'Without You I'm Nothing' being slightly stronger and their masterpiece as far as I'm concerned. 'Black Market Music' has it's moments but I found it to be kind of weak, but 'Sleeping With Ghosts' was a nice comeback and a step in the right directions. The new tracks for 'Once More With Feeling' were also weak and I found 'Meds' to be downright embarrassing. From the sounds of the single/title track of this one they haven't turned that around one bit.

Sad, really, as they were so exciting when they first burst onto the scene. Oh well. I'll give it a listen for old times sake but I am not expecting much.

The only reason I'm not definitely buying the box set is that Meds wasn't that good. Although "Song to Say Goodbye" is in my Top 10 songs by them.

"Battle" so far seems to be good, but not great.

Infra-Red should've been a HUGE radio hit...damn, what a chorus

Post-Blue, brilliant
Follow the Cops Back Home, amazing

Song to Say Goodbye = still my favorite Placebo track of all time (replacing Bionic)

Thanks for the free track. It sounds awesome! I may have to pick this up. Placebo can be hit and miss for me but I still think that they are an awesome band.

Agree'd.

Even the bonus track "Running up that Hill" rocks. I loved "Without you, I'm Nothing", didn't care for "Sleeping with Ghosts" but I adore "Meds".

Funny. "Running Up That Hill" is a bonus track from Sleeping With Ghosts.

They've put it out about on about three or four different releases over the past few years. Obnoxious.

Seriously? According to my Zune marketplace downloads, it was a bonus track on "Meds".

Weird.

Either way, I adore that cover.

I'm looking forward to the new album.

Meds was their best to date.
Sleeping with Ghosts, comes in 2nd after Meds.

First "proper" single "For What It's Worth":

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Lo2cSq3s4NM&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Lo2cSq3s4NM&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

A step up from the title track, but still not great as far as I'm concerned. Shame.

Re: Placebo — Battle for the Sun (2009)

Really? I think Battle for the Sun is way farther ahead than For What It's Worth. The proper single just sounds radio friendly and not too creatively infused as Battle for the Sun to me, of course just my opinion.

In the U.S. (not sure about the rest of the world), it was originally one the of many bonus tracks (all of which were covers) on the second CD of the 2 Disc "Special Edition" version of Sleeping With Ghosts.

When Meds was first released, it was not on it.

Then, almost a year later, after "Running Up That Hill" was featured on The O.C. and a few other television shows, they re-issued Meds at a cheaper price, with that tune and "Uneedmemorethanineedu" as bonus tracks.
