Tell me, back in the day did you pick on The Beatles for the typos on their album back-covers?

Yes and yes and yes. And yes, I pick on Paul for charging inordinate amounts of money for his concerts too.

We've officially run out of important things to bitch about.

The whole DVD forum would be nonexistent without packaging gripes. I only gripe about packaging on works of importance. Certainly not how the media aligns on my shelves. ;)

I miss LP album covers. Digipaks and jewel cases are functionally useless when it comes to de-seeding your weed. :(

I like digipaks in theory, and they can do a lot of artistic things with them, but they just don't look as nice sitting on a shelf, the discs are more likely to get scratched sliding in and out, and the actual package is pretty prone to damage. I love jewel cases because everything is uniform and they actually do a good job of protecting the CD, artwork, etc.

and resold their original CDs! :p

Actually I think he's long past the point in his career when he should give a shit.

No surprise on "Abbey Road" but I figured "Yesterday" would be the best-selling track.

My favorite album(s) is Rubber Soul/Revolver. They have always felt like one album to me.

70 years old and billions of dollars entitles you to take your fans for granted. OK, we'll agree to disagree.

Not a big fan of digipaks either but I was speaking more of the photos and content they provided in the remasters. They could have just released shitty CD packages like before.

As for putting digipaks in plastic sleeves? My CDs are in piles laying around, in boxes, and on shelves. I'm not one for organization.

Does that link still work? I get the framework of the site but no actual content.

Apple did away with their restrictive DRM a while ago. Their stuff is still lossy, but not restricted to just iTunes or iPods anymore.

I got tired of going through this thread page by page, so I'll just ask.

I'm guessing the additional pages for the Box of Vision for those who bought both the stereo and the mono sets never materialized. Is that correct?

Here is the answer to an email I sent to Jonathan Polk at Box of Vision.

Hi Alvis-- the Beatles Box was not built to add pages to. We have a companion box that can stand next to it, and you can store your other Beatles CDs in-- we are working on the logistics right now about how to manufacture and distribute this....hopefully for the holidays.

That's weird, I could have sworn they advertised that you would be able to add additional pages.

They did.

At some point, someone realized they could make more money by selling a "companion box". Just in time for the holidays.

I may just leave my mono discs in the box they came in.

Newbury Comics has the Mono box set for $99.99 this week (thru 11/30). Price change doesn't seem to be reflected online, but I saw it yesterday in-store for that price. Here's the flyer that mentions it:

Every time this thread bumps I know Ill open it and regret again what I paid for the mono set.

Re: Beatles Remasters Officially Coming 09-09-09

Yeah, I'm kind of glad that I don't even remember what I paid for both sets. I know my sister wants one, but since she has the stereo box set and because Amazon has sold the mono set at $99.99 and will again, I'd rather spend the money on her for something she has a more pressing need for.

Maybe with Prime, if Amazon goes that low in time for Christmas, I'd do it.

Wow, I went ahead and checked. I paid $239 for the mono set (Limited edition my ass) and $180 for the stereo set. I was so stupid to worry about these selling out, which is what I'm sure they wanted me to think, because I would and could have waited for more reasonable prices.

I got killed on this purchase, but thankfully 2009 is long gone. :)
