I am so glad I got in on those B&N deals when I did.

Re: Beatles Remasters Officially Coming 09-09-09

Silly question but do you think of any of the surviving Beatles will plug this set on the boob tube and appear on Conan, Letterman etc?

will they run commercials to promote the album in early Sept or would it be a waste because of the big price tag for the box sets?

I know VH1 and MTV have been showing some Beatles videos late night along with the usual hip hip and Mariah Carey videos they usually show.

Really?! Mixing in Hello, Goodbye with hip-hop and Mariah?! That's truly eclectic.

McCartney was on Letterman last month to promote his gig in NYC. Played on the rooftop of the Ed Sullivan theater. Didn't mention the game or albums. The game is being demoed during his mini-tour through the US though. That's probably about as close as they'll get to plugging the game/albums.

do the Beatles actually own their songs? i thought they sold it to Michael Jackson who sold it to Sony and now a few hedge funds own it since he owed them so much money

That's already well-known, isn't it?

My daughter wants a Touch for her birthday so I'm hoping for some news on that front, with the included camera. If there are Beatles-branded/loaded iPods announced, I'll definitely go that way.

I was under the impression that the Beatles albums were going to be sold digitally on their own site.

That's what I thought too. There'd been iTunes speculation but no announcement of any kind.

Re: Beatles Remasters Officially Coming 09-09-09

VH1 showed the rock band video version of Birthday and some other videos like I Am the Walrus, The Night Before, Get Back, and some other videos.

is there any place besides Amazon that still carries the mono box set?

I saw it at Bestbuy.com but I don't know if I preorder it there I will get a copy

I was not tempted to buy the mono set before but now since it is sold out at Amazon and the Mono sets might be the last chance ever to get the Beatles CDs as they were originally recorded I am having second thoughts.

Barnes & Noble has it at a decent price, especially if you're already a member. I think there are still some 15% off coupons that work with pre-orders. I'd also link to the site using the Bing cashback store link.

Re: Beatles Remasters Officially Coming 09-09-09

Someone tell me again:

1. Why is the mono box set so much? After all the discounts it's still like $23 per album!
2. When do the mono LP's come out?
3. How much will the LP's be?

1. It's not for everyone. Most people will be buying the stereo sets and be happy with them. The mono mixes are for the purists/collectors and considered by Apple to be a special/niche/premium item.

2. Not sure. The latest rumor on various forums is March 2010 and there's no guarantee there will be mono vinyl.

3. Probably more than the CDs.

Can't wait until these arrive (Mono set and the following 3 albums). Very excited to hear how they sound, both being remastered and as I'm not that familiar with the mono mixes. It's so close.

Re: Beatles Remasters Officially Coming 09-09-09

I would have considered buying a set that includes MONO and STEREO for the price of the stereo set. Paying double for the same thing is absolutely out of the question however.

I don't mind waiting for high res, even if it never comes.

It's aimed at hardcore fans who will shell out the extra green for it.

The Capitol releases contained both the stereo and the mono mixes on the same album for around half of the price of these new mono releases. There is definitely a money grab happening here.

It's the effing Beatles. The best band of all time is still worth a premium.

Re: Beatles Remasters Officially Coming 09-09-09

I've read on various online sites that the mono set is so expensive because it's a Japanese pressing. Some report that both the discs and packaging will be manufactured in Japan, while others say that only the miniature album sleeve replicas will be produced in Japan. Does anyone know the real scoop?

Re: Beatles Remasters Officially Coming 09-09-09

So I am probably going to pick up some of the individual releases. I noticed that Best Buy has a few albums bundle with a shirt and crate. My thought is getting one of these with a crate and storing the albums I get in it. Anyone know how big these crates might be? I remember the Bob Dylan one being about the size of the CD case, but wasn't sure if the CD fit length-wise or diagonally.

I'm guessing it's because the cost of the mastering and package design has to be divided up between the 10,000 or so copies produced.

I'm betting we see a Blu-ray release of these within the next two years.

I'm guessing that the high sticker is pure capitalism. Someone calculated that it was what the traffic would bear. They were right. I shelled out.
