Guns N' Roses to tour with Van Halen this summer ?

Any truth to this?

VH has a long history of picking crappy opening acts.

Today VH is a crappy act

Four days past expiration date April Fools perhaps?

Between them they only have 3/4 a great band.

Now if it were Roth, Hagar, and Slash, it'd be 1.33 of a great band.

I dont' think that will happen. Axl Rose and David Lee Roth will never agree on who is going to be the oppening band.

Well if Van Halen was smart, they'd do what Metallica did and insist on going on first. If GnR went on first, Axl's lateness would make the shows end at around 5am.

Plus, it would be interesting to see how many people stayed.

True. I just got done reading that new GnR biography "Watch You Bleed" and on that Metallica/GnR tour, people were leaving during GnR's set because they often went on so late.

I'd actually consider going to a new Guns N' Roses show if they are actually going to tour. Count me as one of the few who actually didn't think Chinese Democracy was a bad album. As good as the old stuff? No, but not as bad as a lot of people make it out to be.

If it was REALLY Van Halen and Guns N' Roses, then this would be phenomenal. As it stands, both of these bands are now a sham without the proper members being involved.

I can understand that feeling for GNR (although I like the "new" GNR personally)...but Van Halen? Really? The bass player is THAT important to you? The missing Michael Anthony makes the band now a sham??

Is Iron Maiden a sham since they do not have their original drummer?
Is Pearl Jam a sham since they are on their fifth drummer?
Was Soundgarden a sham after "Louder Than Love" since they had a new bassist afterwards?
How about Metallica? Have they been a sham ever since Cliff passed away, or was it after Jason quit?

It brings up the very interesting debate about how integral each musician is to a band....

And the fact that Michael Anthony never wrote a song in Van Halen. Slash, Izzy and Duff not just played, but also contributed with song writing.

I haven't seen GnR with the new lineup live, but I went to the last Van Halen tour with DLR was definitely not a sham.

Michael Anthony was great and did a heck of a job with the harmonies, but Wolfgang is okay by me. I saw the show last year and it still rocked.

How about the original singer too.

I'd love to see VH get both DLR AND Hagar to come on tour with them. "Best of Both Worlds" Tour, play two sets with each singer. It would make a fortune.

Very true, I just picked one instrument, but seriously Iron Maiden only has two "original" members at this point, and has for literally decades now....
Though I say it is a good thing they don't have the original vocalist because Bruce was a major upgrade!

I don't care if its DLR or Sammy as I like them both, but Michael was a huge part of those harmonies.
