Re: "Strobelight" - New NIN Album - Available Now!

Check your calendars folks

04 Pussygrinder [Feat. Sheryl Crow]

A Trent Reznor Twitter message that reads "Brand new FULL LENGTH NIN record available now" is exactly the sort of thing that sends Pitchfork News writers into ecstatic spazzouts. And those ecstatic spazzouts last about four seconds until we remember what day it is. April Fools Day now officially belongs to Nine Inch Nails. This thing is incredible.

Seriously, the Kanye glasses? The looped drums in the background? "Laid, Paid and Played (Featuring Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas and Al Jourgensen)"? Chris Cornell, your move.

Can Reznor make this album for real? Please? Someone remind Trent about Exotic Birds.

If you don't feel like going to the NIN website, Reznor's message and his fake Timbaland-produced album's fake tracklist are listed below. But seriously, click through. You will not regret it.

A message from Trent:

"To download NIN's new full-length album Strobe Light, PRODUCED BY TIMBALAND, enter a valid email address in the fields below. A download link will be sent to you immediately. Your credit card will be charged $18.98 plus a $10 digital delivery convenience fee. Strobe Light:

01 Intro Skit
02 Everybody's Doing It [Feat. Chris Martin, Jay-Z AND Bono]
03 Black T-Shirt
04 Pussygrinder [Feat. Sheryl Crow]
05 Coffin on the Dancefloor
06 This Rhythm Is Infected
07 Slide to the Dark Side
08 Even Closer [feat. Justin Timberlake and Maynard James Keenan]
09 On the List (She's Not)
10 Clap Trap Crack Slap
11 Laid, Paid and Played [feat. Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas and Al Jourgensen]
12 Feel Like Being Dead Again
13 Still Hurts [feat. Alicia Keys]
14 Outro Skit

haha, good thing it's April Fools Day. Trent and Timbaland working together would be sign that the apocalypse is coming.

But this one is actually funny.

$10.00 digital delivery convenience fee
Pussygrinder (feat. Sheryl Crow)
Even Closer (feat. Justin Timberlake and Maynard James Keenan)
Still Hurts (feat. Alicia Keys)

Those all made me laugh out loud, as did the "album cover" photo.

Also, this is clearly a response to Chris Cornell's album, which was produced by Timbaland and which Trent has publicly bashed.

OK, I recant, after actually going to the NIN site and seeing their site this is pretty funny, I thought it was yet another "joke thread" ala "Watchmen 2" but this is a nicely done joke. Love the 'sample' track.

Love the album cover.

I would actually like to hear more collaborations between Trent and Dr. Dre, though.

Re: "Strobelight" - New NIN Album - Available Now!

I thought it was legit when I saw the message on twitter.

That said, I wish some of those tracks actually existed. If he even recorded one of them, this joke would be as awesome as Alanis singing My Humps two years ago.

Sadly, this is the most exciting project NIN has done in a decade.

don't worry, i didn't intend it as a slam. i just don't understand why he'd expect reznor to actually do something incredibly different!

I thought that all of NINs stuff has been pretty unique but I get what you're saying about going "that different."
