KMFDM - Blitz

1. (Symbol)
2. Bait & Switch
3. Davai
4. Never Say Never
5. Potz Blitz!
6. People Of The Lie
7. Being Boiled
8. Strut
9. Bitches
10. Me & My Gun
11. Take'm Out
This came out last week and I know some of you listen to KMFDM. Maybe you didn't there was an even a new album out, but it is worth a listen. Of course it sounds like KMFDM but there is some kinda weirdness going on. They stuck a lot of old school synths and bass lines in this one.
Potz Blitz is probably my favorite track but Strut featuring Lucia and old school singer Cheryl Wilson is a pretty damn catchy dance track.
There is a lot of tongue in cheek lyrics of course and Bitches follows the whole Sucks, Inane making fun of themselves vibe.
Yeah some of the songs are pretty weak, but I think there is a lot of good stuff on this album that shine over that overshadow the weak points. I think it's the strongest thing they have done since Attak. Plus it's KMFDM, the hardest working industrial band that no one cares about, you have to listen

I got this a couple weeks ago from Metropolis and have only spun it once so far. Honestly - I'm not too fond of it yet. I found a lot to like on Hau Ruck and Tohuvabohu(?), but for my money WWIII is the last consistently kick ass record they did.
I was actually more disappointed with the Skold Vs. KMFDM release.

I'm not sure I'm going to pick this up, as I don't find enough diversity in their albums to justify $12. I'll certainly go see them live, though. Especially since they usually have cool opening bands.

I kinda gave up after being underwhelmed with "Hau Ruck". I liked "Attak" and "WWIII" but "Hau Ruck" just did did nothing for me...which made me skip Tova-Tohuva-whatever altogether.
I'm also not very thrilled with Skold coming back. I could tolerate him on a song or two...but I got tired of his voice on the MDFMK album.

I think Lucia is getting a few too many vocal songs as well these days, but that might have something to do with who she's screwing.

I don't think Lucia is bad, but I think she is rather overused.
I think it is because female vocals have gone from being backup/background to full main vocals.
But Dorona Alberti was the best female vocalist KMFDM ever had.

Re: KMFDM - Blitz
The more I listen to this, the more I like it. I don't care for "People of the Lie" and "Up Uranus," but that's about the only ones that I skip regularly.
It's not nearly as good as the earlier stuff...but I like it better than Tohubavohu or whatever...
And yes...Lucia is on too many tracks...although "Strut" is awesome.
I wish for a Shultz/Esch/K reunion....if only that would happen.

Honestly, this album, Tohuvabohu and Hau Ruck all sound essentially the same to me. Not to say I don't like them, it's just... more of the same, you know what I mean? Now Skold Vs. KMFDM, that shit kicked ass!

Lucky you, I never got to see them before they broke up.
When I saw them in 2002, 2003, and 2004 I always wished En Esch and Gunter were there.

I wasn't aware that Sascha and Raymond Watts were on the outs??
Anyhow you guys are way too hard on Tim Skold, I didn't like him right at first either but now I think he's pretty badass.

I listened to it the other day. None of it really stood out for me. They just cannot seem to recapture the Angst/Xtort era sound that I really liked about them.

I can tolerate him in small amounts, but he really should stick with production & playing instead.

Re: KMFDM - Blitz
That's because it's not her singing. She does some backup vocals but it's Cheryl Wilson doing the lead vocals. I love this track though. Easily my favorite KMFDM tune since the classic Angst/Nihil/Xtort days. The rest of the album, like others have said, just kind of blends in with Hau Ruck and Tohuvabohu. Not bad by any means but nothing too memorable. WWIII was under appreciated.

I haven't formed an opinion of the song "Strut" (I did just listen to it) but damn am I happy that Lucia isn't singing on that track.
I don't hate Lucia, I met her and she was really nice, but her singing is overused.

Re: KMFDM - Blitz
Lucia is hit and miss sometimes, I thought her on Last Things was great..though lyrically that song is pretty strong compared to most.
But they do tend to process her voice than they do Cheryl Wilson I think.

Re: KMFDM - Blitz
Cheryl Wilson (and Dorona Alberti) have much stronger voices than Lucia, and processing their voices would be a waste.
I was rather blown away reading the notes for Money and finding out Dorona Alberti was only 15 when she sang on that album.

I'm going to the Denver show. I doubt there will be anything groundbreaking going on, but KMFDM usually has a decent show. Angelspit could be cool, as I like most of what I've heard.

Re: KMFDM - Blitz
The NYC show was great, missed Angelspit but KMFDM put on a solid set, nothing from Nihil though which is a bit dissapointing.
The US shows follow this setlist pretty much minus a couple songs here and there
