Anyone remember Eddy Grant and "Electric Avenue?"

That song rocked.

It was the opening theme for Pineapple Express

Whatever happened to that guy?

He also made this sweet video for Romancing The Stone the movie with Michael Douglas.

Re: Anyone remember Eddy Grant and "Electric Avenue?"

I liked his song that went "Gimme HOPE, Joanna! Gimme, HOPE Joanna!", about apartheid. Good stuff.

Re: Anyone remember Eddy Grant and "Electric Avenue?"

Sure. He has plenty of worldwide hits and gets major kudos for the song "Police On My Back" (The Equals) that the Clash took to a new level.

Personally, I've been trying to forget that song since the first time I heard it. Thanks for bringing it up again. But if you dig it, more power to you.

No shit. My first response to the question is...unfortunately. I truly hated that song. And fortunately, I did hear other songs from the guy. Much better, and not grating.

Re: Anyone remember Eddy Grant and "Electric Avenue?"

Yep. It was junior high and we were playing in the street (not Electric Avenue) at night during the summer. We listened to a Top 40 station on the radio playing the Top 10 hits for the week.

GREAT tune. Surprised he never had much of a career in the US. He fit into the 80's pop scene so well.

That pose is enough to want the singer and the song.
