Just another examply of why streaming services suck. You think of something you want to listen to, and the original recording isn't available. Or there isn't any version available.
Eddy Grant may have been a, "One hit wonder," in the U.S. but, "Electric Avenue," was a mega hit. It was on MTV every 3 hours for a couple months. Finding that song shouldn't be a problem. Apparently, unless you buy CD's, it is.

^ No taste in music. That song is at least the 114th best of the 80s, possibly 103rd.
(tongue in cheek post here, btw)

How could I EVER forget that song. It was played in a non-stop loop/rotation on MTV back in the day. Always considered it a speed-bump one had to endure sitting through until something worthwhile listening to/watching came on.

Re: Anyone remember Eddy Grant and "Electric Avenue?"
I worked at a place a couple of years back where the general manager claimed to be proudly Guyanese. Now to be fair, this guy would've been in his late 20s at most. Still, since he was so proud of his heritage, I asked if he liked Eddy Grant. With the way he looked at me in response, you'd think I was speaking to him in Armenian or something.
I just started using the free version of Spotify and was disappointed to find that original versions of songs like Electric Avenue aren't available. Would I be correct in assuming that those original versions still wouldn't be available if I were to switch to the paid service?

It gets played reasonably often on some of the SiriusXM Channels - 80s on 8, Road Trip Radio, a couple more. I don't change the station.

It was better than Loverboy's "Queen of the Broken Hearts", which MTV played every 16 minutes the summer of 1983.
