Recommend me some good Father/Daughter songs
So eventually want to make my little one a mix or put some songs on her mp3 player. She already likes a lot of the f/d songs I put on there so far and just wanted to ask the fellow dvdtalkers for good suggestions on father/daughter songs that you like. Doesn't matter what genre, just wanted to get some more ideas. Here are some of the ones I already have and like.
Father and Daughter - Paul Simon Angel - Jack Johnson My Little Girl - Tim McGraw Zoe Jane - Staind less specifically father/daughter My First Child - Nil Lara With Arms Wide Open - Creed I know google is my friend but I know with the very eclectic tastes of the dvdtalkers I might get some good obscure suggestions, but even the mainstream ones I'll take. Any help appreciated. |

First thing that came to mind was Paul Simon, which you covered, but immediately followed by "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder.

A little on the cheesy side but...
"Daddy's Girl" - Peter Cetera "Apple of Her Daddy's Eye" - Peter Cetera Not specifically father/daughter, but... "Green (Welcome to the World)" - Sister Hazel "Daughters" - John Mayer "My Girl" - Temptations |
Re: Recommend me some good Father/Daughter songs
"Daughter" by Loudon Wainwright III (actually a cover of a Peter Blegvad song)
It's the song that played during the end credits of Knocked Up. I don't even have kids and that song kinda chokes me up. :) Also, check out Wainwright's "Bein' a Dad." It's pretty funny. And Bono wrote "Sweetest Thing" for his daughter (I think; I could be - and probably am - wrong).

Turn Around - Harry Belafonte
Where are you going, my little one, little one, Where are you going, my baby, my own? Turn around and you're two, Turn around and you're four, Turn around and you're a young girl going out of my door. Turn around, turn around, Turn around and you're a young girl going out of my door. Where are you going, my little one, little one, Little dirndls and petticoats, where have you gone?2 Turn around and you're tiny, Turn around and you're grown, Turn around and you're a young wife with babes of your own. Turn around, turn around, Turn around and you're a young wife with babes of your own. Re: Recommend me some good Father/Daughter songs
Rupert Holmes' "Perfect" from the album Full Circle, written about and for his daughter Wendy who died at age 10 from an undiagnosed brain tumor. It is pretty depressing given the context, but it's still a great song.
All you are is All you need to be. All you'll ever need to be is you. All your dreams are safe to share with me 'Cause I'll be there to see them through. We are perfect. I know I'm not that objective, But we're perfect. And though I've lost all perspective, Still, I've found you And I'm easy to please as long as you're near: And when I have you here, Life is perfect. |

Thanks for all the great suggestions, still trying to track all of them down.
