Wow - now that would be a hell of a show!

I know back in the '50s Elvis, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly, etc all toured and played together, but for my money and what I'm into, this would be my pick for an amazing lineup (that actually happened), with each band touring behind some of the their best albums. Although I did see U2 back in '82 playing at a local church to about 200 people - it was too early in their carrer, and I was too young to truly appreciate it. |
Seeing The Traveling Wilburys live would have been my dream show. I've seen Petty live once and Dylan twice, but I'm such a huge fan of all five Wilburys that it would have been a dream come true.

Here's a good one
Led Zeppelin at UC Irvine - Crawford Hall 1969 (Students $3.00-$3.50/General $3.50-$5.00) http://www.vintageconcertposters.net...images/304.jpg |
I saw White Zombie in their prime co-headlining with Pantera and The Ramones opening ...twice! INCREDIBLE shows.

It was pretty common to see killer lineups at stadium shows in the 70s. I once went to one called THE ROUND-UP. Featured ZZ Top, Molly Hatchet, .38 Special, Charlie Daniels, Blackfoot, The Outlaws and Marshall Tucker Band.
Remember The Eagles, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt and Steve Miller Band one too. Kiss, Rush, Ted Nugent and Montrose(w/ Hagar) Bob Seeger, Foreigner, Uriah Heep, REO Speedwagon, Head East, The Cars Fleetwood Mac, Peter Frampton, Heart, REO and Styx |
Looking at some of the club ads in NME or another UK mag in the late 70's/early 80's had some mindblowing acts all playing the same night. Or night after night of craziness. I'd love to have been around right there, right then.

I remember reading about how Roxy Music opened for one of David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust shows in the early 70's. That would probably be my dream set right there.
|
Not anywhere nearly as big, but I caught Faith No More and Soundgarden touring as opening bands to Voivod back in 1989. There seemed to be maybe 50 or so of us in attendance at a small bar in Champaign IL, and I saw some band members playing at the arcade next door before the show.

Sly Stone opening for Hendrix at the Fillmore East in '68.

As a child of the 90's I would've loved to see this show:

My first concert was Primus, Anthrax and Public Enemy. That was a pretty good line-up. (The openers, Young Black Teenagers, who were white, did not go over well with the African-American segment of the audience.)

Anthrax are also white (I mean "caucasian-American"). Didn't they go over well? |
