what song had the lyric: "You can do with this, or you can do with that?"
I am sure it was from the 80's, and it was funk/rap? Anyone know? By the way, I typed those lyrics in Google, and came up zero.

Sounds like Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice."
Though that part may be a sample -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_69_/_Weapon_of_Choice |
yeah, it is definitely a sample. The original repeats that lyric many times. You can do with this, or you can do with that, or You can do with this, or you can do with that
|
Black Sheep's "The Choice Is Yours" perhaps? I'm not sure if "Weapon of Choice" is actually using an older song, but I always thought Fatboy Slim/Bootsy were lifting Black Sheep for the chorus. Unfortunately, I don't have the CD in front of me so I can't check the liner notes.
"You can get with this/You can get with that" |
as DJ Linus pointed out, you don't have the lyrics quite right, but I'm certain you're thinking of Black Sheep's "The Choice Is Yours"

"You can get with this/You can get with that" If you remember the lyric/sample, "Engine, engine number nine.." then it's Black Sheep for sure. |
Pretty sure that the Bootsy Collins lyrics on Weapon of Choice were original and not a sample. Norman Cook and Bootsy were working together a lot during that time period.

You're thinking of Black Sheep.

CLASSIC!!! Verse One: Dres Who's the Black Sheep, what's the Black Sheep? Don't know who I am, or when I'm coming so you sleep Wasn't in my room, wasn't in my sphere Knew not who I was, but listen here Dres, D-R-E-S, yes I get suckers start If it's all right with you, I'll rip this here one apart Back, Middle, to the front, don't front Wanna a good time, gonna give you what you want Can I hear a hey?
