I still think Minor Earth Major Sky is one of the best pop albums.

MTV Europe played a lot of a-ha stuff.

MTV Europe play Videos, well they don't play as much, but what is great is TV in the UK where there are about 30-40 Music Video channels.

Misguided, self-righteous, ill-informed overreaction based on religion? That's a new one...

 Forget the song, when did Hillary Duff become slutty hot?

I know, I love that. I discover so many bands just from flipping on the TV over there.

Rush fans would beg to differ. Talk about your hugely successful cult bands.

I like Jamelia's (U.K. artist) take on the song more.

Here's a brief sneak peak of their recent stuff. Two singles from their last
album "Analogue" from 2005. And the song "Analogue" was their first top 10
in the UK since 1988. Great tune and video too btw.

And another single

Cardiff Giant11 11-13-08 04:23 PM

That song is pretty awful, and it's not like it's a small sample, the entire song is the sample. Yuck. Having said that, there are worse songs covers/samples out there so could've been worse. I still think one of the best versions of Personal Jesus was the Pump mix from the remix disc that came out a few years back, very cool mix.

The Bus 11-13-08 05:48 PM

The two main singles from Minor Earth Major Sky:

Wasn't "I Wish I Cared?" on there too? I thought that song was pretty well known. Good song too.

Great songs. Thanks "The Bus". I really freakin' hate how some artists never get released in the U.S. anymore. The Lightning Seeds also comes to mind. I own everything they've done. Possibly my favorite Britpop group.

The Bus 11-14-08 07:05 PM

Cardiff: Probably. I heard this album when I was in Europe summer of 2000. Those were the two songs I heard a lot.

That's also when I discovered Placebo.

And this song:

Whatever happened to this single anyhow? Did it massively flop? Is this why Duff's back on TV? I don't hold Depeche Mode in any high regard whatsoever, but I'm sure for some it'd be like sampling "Kashmir" or "Sweet Home Alabama".

Re: Hillary Duff samples "personal jesus"

according to wiki, it was a number one dance song. Also it mentioned that she left Hollywood Records/disney.

I am surprised Baby Jenna is still making music. I thought the expiration date on "actor to musician" crap was pretty short.

P. Diddy DID sample 'Kashmir' for a song on the 'Godzilla' soundtrack. Jimmy Page even played in the video. It will take me a long time to forgive him for that.

I like Hilary's first three albums. why do she and Britney Spears feel they have to release greatest hits CD's now? it seems like they both just released a greatest hits CD only a few years back.... makes no sense.

their best albums are scoundrel days, east of the sun west of the moon, and memorial beach in my opinion. Their newer stuff is less focused (minor earth major sky and beyond) IMO. I'm a pretty serious fan I have something like 200 live recordings of them haha.
