What happened to the Dixie Chicks?

I just watched Shut Up and Sing, last night. What a wonderfully insightful documentary! But after watching it, I realized we haven't really heard from them since the 2006 Grammys. It's like they fell off the face of the earth! I know there was a stupid backlash against them from the Nashville scene but they swept the Grammys and their album was one of the best-selling of 2006. So where are they?

I guess you don't have Sirius. They've been on Howard Stern a few times. One of them even sang at his wedding.

(I've heard enough of them)

They should try and tour again when Bush is out of office in 2009.

People realized they sucked, they stopped selling cd's and tickets, and finally retired.

They are on hiatus. As somebody mentioned Natalie Maines has been on Stern alot recently and she mentioned that all three of them are just relaxing and have no plans to start writing again anytime soon. They'll be back but I wouldn't expect anything soon.

One or two of the girls recent divorced, iirc. They're on hiatus; they'll be back. Hope they use Rick Rubin again, I really liked the last album.

Complete fiction. They had their biggest record and tour after the 2004 Bush fracas.

True. Wide Open Spaces was their "killer" album, but Taking the Long Way did extremely well considering the state of the record industry in the last 5 years.

Also Taking the Long Way won all those Grammys, including album of the year.

All was not a bed of roses considering all the concerts they had to cancel and delay.

I was so pissed when they had to cancel so many shows due to lack of support from local promoters/country stations. I had scored great presale tickets for that last tour.

They put on a heck of a show, hope they come back soon.

I actually wrote a term paper on the Dixie Chicks's situation a few years ago, and it details how and why the music industry reacted to them. I wrote it before Taking the Long Way was released, so it's a little out of date. Anyway, the main reason no one has heard much from them recently has been the same reason they have historically taken a longer-than-standard time between projects: they have three hectic personal lives. It seems at least one of them is constantly getting married, pregnant or divorced.

It was weird for me, because country has always been my genre of choice and yet I never liked the Chicks. I should have enjoyed their banishment, except that it had nothing to do with the music. I would much rather hear a song on radio by an artist I don't like than to not hear one because of politics.

But that was all liberal voters trying to save a career of one their own that stood and said something bad about President Bush.
Just like when Hollywood gave Micheal Moore his Oscar and he then went on that rant.

The last album wasn't as country from what I understand and it lost country music's support after the Bush fracas. Still 2 million is nothing to sneeze at.

The Dixie Chicks are the world's GREATEST BAND!

They can take their time making a new record or make 3 in one year...and you should be grateful to the almighty that you live in a world where it is possible to even hear the wonderful music that they make.

And if you never hear anything from them again, your life has been blessed a million times over just for having lived during the time when the Dixie Chicks reigned supreme and when a new generation found a Beatles of their own.

Bowling for Columbine has 96% on Rotten Tomatoes with 152 Fresh, 6 rotten. I'm pretty sure that shows that shows that he deserved that oscar.
The Dixie Chicks album got great review across the board, it wasn't just liberal hollywood shoving it back in Bush's face.

What happened to the Dixie Chicks?

They were apparently the victims of a tragic matter transporter accident, and are reported to be in horrible pain.

you're aware that Obama won because people are sick of the neo-conservative bigotry, right?
